Can I use a controller?
I know it is possible. I am asking if it would affect my gameplay and the steering or not. I have an xbox 360 controller for the PC and I would like to use it for the game. Is it hard to drive with a controller?

That's what I use. I think it's better than an XBOne controller as the triggers have more resistance and travel.

Have fun :)

thanks.

Most pros use controllers too, they perform better than wheel users. Xbox Elite Controller is the best you can get.Wheel = fun but not the best for lap times.

Incorrect and fundamentally flawed.

If this was true the f1 esport events would be run with controllers. But every one of them uses a wheel.

Control is viable yes. But you have way more precision with a good wheel setup

Yeh, you're going to have to provide a ton of evidence for that astounding claim before anyone takes you even remotely seriously.

(@OP, oh, btw, when Edward gets unbanned he'll be all over this topic so just ignore him when he does. I don't think he can help himself.)

Have fun :)

The advantage of a wheel is the smooth input, which allows you to get to the limits of the cars way more easy. This game however isn't a full simulation, so it also supports a controller pretty good. It might take more time to get a hang of it compared to wheels, but it's definitely possible to properly play the game with it, especially as a casual player.

I am a completely beginner into the f1-games and I am using a controller. I have some driving assists activated: traction controll and the pitstop assistent and really enjoy the game. Its really playable with a controller but I am not playing this game to get the pro like some guys on youtube or on servers. At the beginning it needs some time to figure out how to drive but you get it.

does this have that same controller issue in the F1 2015? Or has it been fixed?

OK guys I used my controller and noticed that sometimes when I turn LEFT it doesn't go all the way. Not sure if it's my controller or the game. This affects my steering so I stopped using a controller and switch to a wheel instead.

try setting the Steering Saturation...or Deadzone...that second option. I set mine to 50

mmm think it's more opinion based.. I'd use a full wheel set up if had the cash and mostly room for it! so a ps4 controller hits the sweet spot for now
