Codemasters go by their instincts.
That's a very sweeping statement (although it is impossible to argue with it, as it could be said about most sim or race game tracks).
I have only driven Silverstone in real life, and variations of the other tracks in those other sims - I have no complaints about the CM versions.
I would think that, if you bother to research and investigate, many tracks in many of the sims are 'inaccurate and different', but not enough to lose sleep over. They are all just games - even a laser scanned track is only 'accurate' the day it is created - as soon as a tarmac patch or kerb is repaired, that surface is changed, or after a day of heavy racing, the tarmac is compressed and moved.
Only a professional racing driver would notice differences enough to complain about, and even then it would still be a reasonable representation in most cases.
To the OP, I say, don't worry, you can be anal and uptight about these things which only spoils your own enjoyment of it; or you can play the game and enjoy it for what it is - a reasonable and enjoyable representation of Formula 1. And I stand by what I said - the tracks are close to reality.
