Need some Tips and tricks/Guidelines to Get going :)
Hey there guys.

I have been playing this F1 Series for many years now.
But not that much pr. year, and not as "realistic" as i wanted to.

I play with too much Assists, and that makes me really slow compared to what i can do.
So question is.
Do you guys have some ideas, and experience from yourself maybe, how to go from assists with less assists and so on.

Thing is:
- I still wants to enjoy the game, but likes to have a challenge.
- I want to transition from (assists to less assists through a career mode game)
- - Starting with a lower ranked team (McLaren maybe).

The thing i need to learn.
- Manuel Shifting
- No ABS
- (Traction i have always be played on Medium)

Thats for now, and then i wants to set the AI so they give me a challenge, but without me having to struggle TOOO much while going from "assists to less assists".

Have you guys any experience yourself on what you did?
or have any suggestions and ideas?

We be much appriciated.
while i do like to just take some Time Trials and some Quick Games,
i have always been used to play this game as a Career mode game.
and thats why i need it to be that more realistic for me.
(i also have to do that during the race itself).

Any ideas and suggestion is very welcomed :)

Thanks in advance.

Note that i currently play with a PS4 Controller.

I literally just jumped in with both feet. Turned all assists off, racing line on corners only. Spend a bunch of time just doing time trial on tracks, learning braking points and how much you need to apply to brakes, how much throttle coming out of the turns, etc...

You WILL suck for a while and it will be frustrating, but once you hit that perfect apex and fly out of a corner all on your own it feels awesome.

Yeah i have though of that.
And i know i will suck, but actually i feel i suck more now, due to the fact i am using too much assists for what i like.

That being said: I am more a guy that focus on realism, and learning the mechanics of the game,
while having fun, than 100% focus on results imediatly.

but thanks for your post.
Much appriciated.

I'm using the TV Pod for now. Once I've gotten comfortable with the cars and tracks I plan to switch to make it more true to life.

I play no assists on Xbox 360 controller.

I'd change your camera first, not last. If you are after realism that's the most important change and it affects how you perceive the track. The braking point doesn't move ofc but how you view it, knowing whether you are perfectly on the right line or not is all dependent on being familiar with what you see.

The line is next. Not hard to learn a marker to use as a braking point and it is such a crutch it affects throttle and brake so you will not learn with it on. You want to be concentrating on how the car feels thru the corner not watching what colour a silly line is.

I'd go TC next. Turn it off, focus on not putting in too much steering angle and teach yourself being smooooth with your throttle input. For now, assume that you can NEVER go full power immediately. You always have to feed it in, even in easy corners and your fingers will learn. You can speed up once you stop spinning out. Look thru the corner at where you want to be ending up, don't stare at the next apex until you are past it. (i.e. T4 Silverstone: Turn in, and while you need to be aware of the apex you should be looking to the exit kerb/turn in for T5. As you start to turn for T5, again you need to be aware of the apex, but looking thru it to the exit kerb.)

I have never used ABS so not sure what to say except locking up is a major part of F1. Hit the brakes hard. Full power, and then bleed them off to prevent lockups as you begin turning into the corner is what you are aiming for. I'd say getting good at that is the hardest skill to master.

Good luck and Have fun :)

I use cockpit and racing line corners only. Also medium traction control as with G27 wheel the brakes and accelerator or too severe. I set AI to match what my Haas should be doing in the races as per real life. So it's a great fun drive.....Whether I come 3rd or last....

My tip is:

Turn all assist off and leave the game as realistic as possible. After this, race. But you will not race for fast lap times. You will race for steady lap times. Your focus is lap stability. Start slow trying to get speed with consistence. Your objective must be race without crashes or off tracks. If you want to make it more fun, make AI as weak as possible to keep up with your new pace and make then stronger as soon as you get stronger. I'm sure that after one hour doing this you will find a lot of fun and of course, you will be a much better driver.

Good luck.

Yeah feel the same way (more realism but still have to be fun).
So are you then gonna use Default Cockpit camera settings or ?

thx for the tip :)

About AI Difficulty.
I always try to find a balance between where i suppose to be, on the team in driving in.
lets say in F1 2018 picking McLaren or Sauber .
you are expected to be at the lowest part of the grid..
and then work your way up from there during the season
if that make sense?

Thanks alot for sharing your experience.

The tip with camera first actually make sense, when i see it from your view.

Also i know about the TrailBraking mechanic, (im used to play Rally games).
But i find it really hard to memorize etc.
but i like your way of taking these steps one by one and why..

thanks alot :)

YVW :)

(Btw, if you ever master trailbraking, teach me ;) )

Have fun :)
