Also, you do NOT get a penalty if you use an exploit, which is STILL in the game.
Complete the qualification. Before the race, if you switch all engine components, you should get a 60-place grid penalty, but you won't. In my case, every single time I did it, I started from the grid position I got in one-shot quali. (Probably will be addressed in 1.05.)
The stuff is not changed, it is still labeled "pending", no matter how many sessions I wait.
It worked ONCE, but I fail to remember what I did there. TBH it should not be a complex process and there is very little to screw up. Select the number, accept and go. But it still won't change from pending to done. My Engine is at 99% and will fail the moment i leave the box. But I can't change it, hrm.
I tried to just buy new parts and suck up the penalties. EVERY component is still pending and won't change. Training Session 1 is already passed, without a single round. Session 2 is ongoing and and just can't get these parts to switch.

The way it should work, and so far does for me is that outside of changing it in a session (in which case it gives you a countdown to when it will change) then it will stay pending until you leave the garage in the next session.
Just to be clear when you start the next session it will still show as pending but the moment your car leaves the garage in that session they should change.
This is to simulate the FIA regulation that a component is deemed as "used" when the cars timing transponder leaves the pit lane.
If the components aren't changing when you should let codemasters know by putting in a bug report.
If changing between sessions doesn't work, can you change in a session? then at least you will get rid of you old components after you let the time elapse.
I don't think you can re-select an old component which has >90% wear at least I can't reinstall my original ICE which is at 94%.
Started a bug report for now. Seems like my save game is screwed.
