Thanks for playing Axe Throw!
Arcade mode does actually have 40 levels, but as far as I know nobody has made it past 30. It wasn't really meant to be completed, more to see how far people can get :)
Sorry you had trouble with the leaderboard .. perhaps Steam was acting odd that day? It's working and I haven't seen any trouble. I see you're up at number 9 on the leaderboard - nice throwing! :)
I really like your ideas. A 5 minute mode could be a lot of fun and it sounds like that Holopoint level select method could be worth looking at. At the moment, I'm putting together a new survival mode ready for a Halloween (free) update but after that I will look at the possibility of new game modes, too.
In the Halloween update, I'll also try to tighten up the timing at the end of levels a bit to help the wait seem a little less. I like the pace of the current game, but I can also understand how that break could get a little frustrating when you're just ready to blast the next level!
Scoring works by a multiplayer calculated from the distance from the center of the target to the center of the axe blade .. or when it's a double headed axe, the center between both blades. The multiplier is applied to 60. As far as I know, it's impossible to get an actual 60 .. the maximum seems to be around 55. Meanwhile, balloons are 40 points each.
Thanks for taking the time to write these suggestions down - totally appreciated! Also super appreciate that you played the game long enough to get such an awesome score. I hope to see you knocking me off the top of the leaderboard soon :)
Jeff.
On the scoreboard, I think I figured that it is overwhelming to read because of all the 0000000's and my actual score is small to the right. My eyes have a hard time parsing all the numbers.
Hmmm. Too many zeroes, eh? Yeah now you mention it, the number of zeroes vs. values of scores does seem a little excessive! Let's cut that down a bit :)
Thanks Koolala!
I've also reduced the number of zeroes in the scores. I think it makes a big difference. Thanks for pointing that out.
Hopefully you should have a bit of a better experience from the game, now!
All the best,
Jeff.
I really like the grip timing now. I realize the time gap between throwing is important and it feels a lot better now.
My favorite part of the game was how you are supposed to avoid hitting the zombie in the bonus round. I like trying my very best to avoid hurting him. For this reason I am not a fan of your new mode but I am impressed by the work you put into it. I tried it a little and it is well made!
Quick question: Do you ever have any trouble with leaderboards in other Steam games, or is it just this one?
Glad you like the bonus modes but I'm sorry zombie survival mode isn't your sort of game. I tried to keep it as cartoony as possible to keep it as light as possible and avoid it being too violent or dark or anything like that, but I can understand why you wouldn't want to play it and I just hope you're not too disappointed.
Anyway, I'll look into the leaderboards some more and see if there's anything other reason I can find. I felt sure the rebuild would have fixed it, but I must be missing something somewhere. Sorry about that, Koolala.
Jeff.
