Hmm, this seems really interesting- but as of right now, doesn't killing wolves from other packs not really matter at all?

They seem to be programmed to just spawn in to refill the empty spots, which means all the pack warfare and "weaking" of your enemies that you do is a bit pointless. They can just, refill to a certain extent, no problem. Whereas, you, have to raise a whole new generation.

hmm good point :Happy_Pup:

But thank God for this addition that's coming. I hate having to run all over a hex to look for peeps who decide to walk in it for 0.1 seconds, heh...

I've personally found that the longer you wait to find a mate the harder it is to establish a territory later on harder difficulties because the neighbouring packs quickly eat up surrounding empty turf the game gives you. The packs are so relentless about chipping away at your turf that its really hard to keep up with them when there's only you (and your tag along mate) versus large pre-established groups of wolves that run separated patrols. I've not seen them calm down when youre raising pups in spring, the opposite actually. The struggle of trying to feed your pups while frantically trying to deal with rivals is a lot. This doesnt lessen until you reach summer, and then only because the pups are less reliant on you. Not because the rivals push any less hard at your borders.
Hopefully in the future that can get easier as you get to keep your pups, as generally my experience was "oh my god hurry up and grow these babies so that they can help me patrol" but of course that time never comes in the current game version. Additionally because there's only two of you, you can never chase a pack away because they have so many more wolves than you have.
Curious to see how its developed in the future, as currently its a pretty uphill battle when it comes to managing territory.
I have never known this to be the case. I take forever to find a mate then am able to take my time marking my territory as the other packs are busy marking up their territory. I do tend to mark the borders that touch their territory first to keep them from encroaching into free territory that i'm planning to claim. You can steal a hex from them before you even get to the claiming territory quest so if it's low in Autumn and I know i'm going to want it i'll remove their claim. As for them encroaching in my territory I most often see the other packs in my territory in Summer, I feel like they're venturing in to look for easier prey. I keep 19 hexes though. The smaller your territory the more trouble you're going to have with wolves.

I cant wait for the relese!! Wolf quest is already awsome, this update will make it Amazing!

Also, is there any hope of a pup edition of the game? Like where you can be a pup and grow up slowly to adult hood and disperse?

Unlikely, but maybe?

Will you change the decay rate? Even on easy difficulty, hexes decay unnaturally fast. Sleep a bit and 1/3 of your territory is taken over. Often my wolves have to go at 0% wakefulness for a long time just to keep up.

I agree an all use minimap would be great. A true 24h would be amazing too.

How big is your territory? I play on accurate and keep 19 hexes. I do not have this issue with territory decay. I could see if being an issue if you have a small territory though.

They're not trying to add this stuff last minute. The devblogs are showing off things they've already added to the Saga.

They like to keep posting things to keep us interested. I'm guessing they test things a lot before they let us know it will be a part of the game, just in case it doesn't work how they want.

I was just thinking, what if you added a little bar next to the name of each pack in the map menu, and it shows your relationship with each pack. For example, if you kill one of their pack members, it might go down (from 100% to 90%?) or if you do something small like walk around in their territory for a bit it might go down to like 97%? And that bar would effect the chances of them trying to take your territory or kill your pups. Another idea i thought might be cool would be if you added a pack alpha to each of the packs and if you kill the alpha they would all retreat immidently and you would claim the two closest of their hexes (The alpha would have higher stats then a normal wolf though and they wouldn't participae in EVERY fight so there would be a bit of a random chance of getting to fight the alpha). These are just some random thoughts i had lol. LOVE THE GAME SO FAR!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!!! :)

There are two alphas in every pack. I'm guessing at least one would be in every attempt to take your territory. They are just other wolves, however, since the game is realistic, but if you kill both of them the pack can disband.
The idea about pack relationships sounds cool and it would be wonderful if not attacking them much prevented pup killing, but I'm afraid it's usually distance to your den that affects that.
If you add these idea to the Ideas discussion, one of the game developers is more likely to notice them and may take them into consideration.
