Editing pup you're playing as
I haven't gotten to this part yet, so I have some questions. I like to manually add scars to my wolves sometimes after an injury, so I go to the main menu and edit my wolf to do this, but I'm not sure if you have that option if you play as an heir or dispersed pup. How does it work?

Yes please, thank you :')
Sorry for the late response.. Had to do something, but it worked. I gave Sorrel a flat ear.

You can't edit your own offspring because their coats are formed by the Parent's genetics and it'd be strange to see people make them look nothing like their parents. Wish there was a scars toggle though and not requirements to change the entire coat for that.

By scars I mean ear rips and tail bends, things like that. Not coat changes. I know you can modify scars and certain other things (tail length, radio collar) if you use the "play as wolf" option, but I don't know about when my wolf dies and I choose one of the pups to play as in that same map.

Yes, that's the only thing you can modify. I (think?) you can give them a crooked tail, but i'm very certain you can give them torn ears.

Yes I know, I'm trying to find the words but I can't.

If my current wolf dies, and I play, on the same map with the same pack and the same territory, not making a new game at all, as one of my pups, do any modifications made to that pup show up when I play that wolf in the game?

Probably. I've tested this with my manually created wolves last year, and their coat modifies unless it's a reminisce to an elder wolf's past life before they were modified.

Can confirm that pups you play as can't have things like say, personality or coat or eye color changed. But you can give them blend shape customization like body mass and ears, and you can also change their howls if you don't really care for them.
