There is always a gap in the fence (it can be hard to spot so you have to take it slow). It's not tied to having pups at all. Moves locations every visit so it won't be in the same spot each time.

I've killed like 3-5 calves. I'm looking for the bear traps he should be putting out. 5 hours, 3-5 calves, nothing. Rather annoying tbh. I've even gone in to harass the adult cows. It's been 2 game years already!

The traps are invisible and usually along the inside of the fence line in my experience. You might be lucky to hit them or you might not. Taking long breaks from the ranch can have the deterrents dial back as well. I usually just wait for spring when calves are young and kill a calf every other night until they show.

I saw some that said they were outside the fence only. By fence you mean the barbed wire, yes?

The only ones I encountered were inside the fence on the ranch grounds. Never found them outside it in my experience. I found it by running inside the ranch boundary along the main fence (the one you find a break in).

Thank you, I've only been doing outside. I'll try checking in and out now!

If you still can't find them, check out this guide. It explains all the things that can happen at the cattle ranch, what things are more dangerous, etc..., and it helped me when I was having trouble.
