I target other packs immediately in winter so Spring means less work for me and my territory is safer. Also, this is the only time of the year I will have my mate with me. Once pups arrive, my mate stays at the den with the pups and I’ll do all the hunting and territory stuff.
I start by targeting the leader pair. If they show up in a fight, I target the female first and don’t let up until she’s dead. After her, I target the male if he’s in the same fight. If neither of them are in the fight, I still kill rival wolves to weaken the pack overall and take out potential future rival leaders. Again, I’ll take out females first because they carry pups.
I don’t really know a pack is dissolved until they stop responding to me being in their territory and they stop trying to strengthen their hexes.
I don't stop until I see these, so usually the pack doesn’t take on a new leader pair - the entire pack is gone and is replaced with a new pack towards the middle of summer. It can make that part of the season hard because usually they pop up just as some of my pups get sick, and my mate still stays at the den so I’m all alone to do everything but it should get easier with the saga because year two means my mate can stay by me throughout the year due to the yearlings.
Of course, there’s still dispersals to worry about. If I see them while out, they die. If they attack my den, they die. If I’m running and come across their tracks, they die if I can catch them. Male or female. They eat my food, weaken my territory, and threaten my pups! Basically no mercy shown.
