Why does my mates keep growling or snarling at me whenever I emote them?
In the Saga i've noticed the system for the mates look different, but one thing that has been making me confused is when my mate grows at me for simply howling or emoting them. Another example is that whenever i emote, i noticed her ears go back and im like? Ma'am im wagging my tail at you.. and we are already mates.. and when i tried using the ear emote just like she did, she snarled at me! And this has happened with two different mates, so it made me very confused, since idk if its a personality thing or a bug. Anyways, if anyone knows anything about it, let me know! Thanks :)

Same. My mate growled at me for feeding the pups, and also for howling. Really weird, I'd like to know what's the deal too.

I would send in bug reports about it when it happens, describing what is happening at the time.
Are these mates you had before the Saga, or did you get them after the Saga Beta just came out? Asking, since I have played some of the Saga with a wolf and her mate whom I've played with before, and I didn't experience any growling. If anything, my mate was being friendlier then usual.

I started a new game just for the saga beta, wanted to experience the whole thing and getting used to how the game would work in general. I'll be sure to send a bug report! Thank you for your response :)

I've had some of my pups growl and do a fearful snarl at me and almost every time it was because there was a dangerous animal nearby. (Bison, moose, rival pack) Either that or it's a weird coincidence.

When they put their ears back it might be a playful thing? Not sure but they've done that too. Growling? Has to be personality because my mate hasn't done that, but some of my pups have.

Saga has added a lot of new stuff, but as a fresh release there aren't going to be answers right away. Part of being in a beta is also looking to decipher it yourself. You gotta be a bit old school and go forth without a guide to it.

It's not usually a big deal tho. Wolves have short little moments of growling at each other or show dominance in that way one minute then frolic the next. It's basically more opportunities to interact where you can pick to growl back, ignore, or do other emotes in response.

Tbh same problem here, i did not know that it was a actual bug. i just thougth that my mate just wanted to be sassy. Like sometimes she comes to me, does a play bow and then does the unsure ear emote when i play bow back.

I've noticed my pups and mate tend to get more growly when they are tired LOL
Wonder if they are just cranky cuz they are sleepy! If so, that's a total mood XD

Tbh, I licked my mate in game during our trial and he growled at me.. what's going on?
Dominance displays I belive, like @Loach said. Also it could be tired cranky.

I had an experience where I was hunting a ton of elk in Growing Pups, and after I killed another, my mate gave me the "uncertain" ears emote. I took it as "Dude, this is a bit much."
I thought it was interesting.
My 13-wolf pack has had I have no clue how many wolves growl at me. They did the fearful snarl emote, and I just either growl back or ignore them.
