stormy coat

i'm trying to find a wolf with this coat because i want to try getting a pup with the coat to play as but i can't find any npcs with the stormy coat. is there any coat i can use to try finding it or anything i can do? or is it just randomized?

Since it's a gray coat, you'll have better odds of getting it if at least one parent is genetically gray. (Low to super rare odds if both are black, if you're lucky.) The Stormy coats I got pre-patch came from different combinations of Gray-Gray and Black-Gray parents. My wolf using Luna, 715F, and Grizzer, and the same Buffy mate across each attempt. Supposedly you have better odds of getting variation coats if one parent has that coat, but they can/do randomly appear on pups even if none of their parents have them. Your mileage may vary.

I've heard Stormy's pup coat was changed from Gray-Mix[wolfquest.fandom.com] (1/10 chance) to Brown Mix Dark[wolfquest.fandom.com] (1/4 chance) in 1.0.8n. I haven't been able to check/validate it since the update released, so the Wiki's tables featuring it[wolfquest.fandom.com] were out-of-date. I have removed Stormy's pup entries from it in the meantime until its new pup coat can be validated.

13-Jun-2022 Edit: Updated new pup coat based on a message received from Loach, so full credit to her for this info. Definitely gonna investigate as soon as possible — aiming to start later today, if not tomorrow.

Its just randomized. If you cant find the stormy coat maybe try to find the big grey or frosty coat. Also try to do a grey x grey pair.

I've gotten all 5 of the new NPC coats, and I recommend a grey x grey pair. Also: once you get to pups, you should get rid of any pups that don't have the coat that stormy can come from, and speedrun until pup (or pups) are 20lbs. This way you can complete SC in less than an hour so you can get it faster :)

Well, the pup coat for stormy was recently changed, but I think any light colored/grey wolf/mate would be fine. For a pic of the pup coat that you're looking for- there's a chart on the wiki, or you can just google "Customization/coats/variations WolfQuest Wiki" and it should take you right to the page you're looking for. I'd just recommend going through the territory quest not marking hexes to full to get it done faster, and just repeat until you get a pup with the coat you're looking for.

Buffy and shadow along with frosty have been the main coats i've been trying to get. Try a grey x grey pair. You can re-roll by making a new game and finish the territory quest. And you may have to re-roll if your pup doesn't have the gender you want but it has the coat.

my 715 coated wolf gave me every new gray coat over his lifetime when paired with another gray coat.
