Dreams: What backstories have you come up with from wolf dreams? Or what are your favourite dreams?
I love the WolfQuest dreams. I think that was an amazing idea from the Devs. Usually I don’t think about backstory or make it up for Single Player wolves, but the dreams helped me come up with a backstory. It got me interested in the symbolism and what the dreams could mean, etc. And I found a pretty nice backstory of loss, pain, endurance and moving on for my wolf. I seem to find a new dream sequence every time. I love it. I’d like it if the wolf could dream more often though, cuz I really enjoy looking at the dreams and keeping note in a mini dream journal for my wolf. From what I’ve heard there’s funny ones (like deers in trees like birds) and there’s some disturbing ones (like fire). It’s really enjoyable and it makes creating backstories much easier. It makes you feel like this isn’t a simple character who’s backstory you decide, it’s like it’s already happened and you’re just piecing it together not creating it. My wolf’s backstory has made me adore this wolf more and I can’t wait to continue his story in Slough Creek. Especially since a big part of his backstory from what I could gather in the dreams was losing his parents, so raising his own pups would be interesting and might hopefully trigger some more dreams of his past.

Dreams my wolf has had so far:
Two wolves howling at a full moon
Crows (or dark birds) flying at a full moon
Moose and sunset
Wolf and bull elk howling together
Pack and two ghost wolves with stars
Wolf pups and full moon
Moose and full moon
Elk and wolves at night
Birds flying over road at sunset
Cougar jumping at crow on elk antlers
Hares/Rabbits running at night
Bears surrounding a light with their paws in the air as if worshipping something
Moose at night with full moon
Wolf pack howling at full moon
Wolf pack and eagles carrying pups and wolves into a blood red sky with full moon
Wolves howling in foggy forest
Fire and pups with blood moon
3 wolves and full moon

Symbolism:
Symbolism:
Black birds- intelligence, knowledge, wit, mystery, “a valiant journey that always leaves us better off than we started”, dark omen, death, bad luck
Elk- strength and stamina, endurance and patience, “relationships with other people”, victory,
Wolves- loyalty, guardianship, spirit, emotional attachments, freedom
Cougar- good mother, power, feminity, intuition, strength, protectiveness of offspring, leadership, taking charge, wild, intense emotion, “Getting chased by a cougar points at your secret passion for someone”
Hares/Rabbits- rebirth, resurrection, fertility, moon, abundance, prosperity
Road- journey, direction, path to take
Night- death, the death of innocence, childhood, faith,
Sunset- beauty, passage of time, mystery of life
Antlers- spiritual authority, regeneration, devotion, masculine power, symbol of life
Howling- primal, “When the Wolf howls to the moon, it is the truest essence of the Call of the Wild.  It is the call of a hunter, a restless Spirit, it is the call of the longing of the heart, it is the call of the yearning of fulfillment, or it is the call of I AM, the Call of the Wild is many things. When Wolf is howling at the moon, it can symbolize that he or she is calling upon the guidance of Great Spirit to awaken the mystical insights and intuition to locate the path of it's hearts desires.”
Full moon- creativity, purity, youthfulness, wisdom, femininity, maturity, pregnancy,
Moose- strength, pride , life, “People who carry the moose symbolism are being called to work with the oppositions in their lives”, power, bravery, courage,
Stars- five elements (fire, earth, water, air, spirit), aspiration, inspiration, purity, good luck
Pack- family, security

My Wolf’s full story (from his backstory to now):
Storm was born into a large litter and as he grew up he developed a close bond with his mother. He remained with the pack for a long time until, unfortunately, his parents passed away. He and his siblings had no choice but to split up and disperse. Storm travelled quite far to get to Amethyst Mountain and the journey had helped him learn how to not only harden to the life of a lone wolf but also the pain he felt inside. When Storm eventually reached Amethyst Mountain he had no problem adapting to the new environment and even fought off a few pack wolves. After sleeping in pack territory he awoke to see a beautiful she-wolf drinking from a stream who seemed willing to leave her pack. Storm approached her but before he could do anything her packmate attacked him and he chased them off. He then turned his attention to the female. She was timid and hide behind a tree, but after a while Storm managed to court her. They exchanged names and Storm discovered her name was Rosa. They went on their first hunt and she surprised him with how excellent and brave she was. They became mates and travelled across the mountain no matter the weather or terrain. They hunted bull elk, fought off cougars and challenged both pack and dispersal wolves.
Dreams:
Dream of eagle attacking pups- his mother used to tell him as a pup never to leave the den site or the pup-killing eagles would get him. He dreams of this because he is going to be a father soon and he wants his pups to be safe. This is a nightmare based on his worry.
Dream of fire- he has seen lightning set a tree alight so this has created nightmares and worries of forest fires. He also, like with the eagle dream, has nightmares about his pups being in danger.
Bears around light- bears are powerful predators so Storm probably saw humans gathered around a campfire and because he knows humans are dangerous he view them as dangerous as bears

The dreams are probably my favorite new addition to WQ:AE, for all the reasons you've mentioned.

I've learned probably most notably that my wolf Wildfire came from outside the park, as he has dreamed pretty often of roadways, at one point having a nightmare that he was about to be run over! He's also dreamed of eagles carrying pups away during a fire while adults helplessly chase after them, making me think he's lost siblings to eagles before—and was maybe part of the same litter instead of as an older sibling, as he's dreamed of an adult wolf (what I interpreted as himself) being carried away as well.

By far Wildfire has had the most tortured dreams, which makes me think his name is unintentionally more apt than I imagined! Other dreams my other wolves have had include:

A pack climbing a misty hill in deep forest, which made me think of my wolf dreaming of her birth pack;

A group of pups playing around with shapes of adults running in the sky, as if they were imagining themselves being bigger one day <3

And a lone pup in the forest against the moon, which made me think that wolf got lost when they were young!

Oh I like that Idea!
Next time one of my wolves has a dream, I'll think about a backstory :3

My wolf,Jesse, came from outside the park. Specifically down in Colorado, then made his way up when he got older. So,50% of his dreams are likely his backstory, and the other 50% is him eating the wrong mushrooms. He dreamt of a squirrel on a moose's back being swooped by an eagle (swooping is bad). I see him constantly dreaming of wolves, eagles, but he dreams the most of a cougar attacking mule deer,a wolf howling against the moon, the sight of 3 or so pups a distant away from a fourth one,and a pack of wolves.

I have decided that he was abandoned by his parents (3 pups and 1 outsider),he's been alone his whole life (wolf against the moon),when he was young he either learned from a cougar how to hunt or a cougar took him in (unrealistic,i know),and eventually he was attacked by a pack when he was around 2 when trying to scavenge their kill.

So basically,he was an abandoned pup who managed to survive, teach himself how to hunt, teach himself right and wrong, and even made friends along the way,the cougar, his current mate,he even made friends with a dog that gave him food when he was still a few months, and met his littermates Ashe,Hanzo, and Genji (who i took from overwatch. that's why his name is Jesse.).

I've gotten the scene of a wildfire. Maybe he survived a wildfire with his siblings,as there were other wolves in the scene as well.

edit: i dont go by symbols,i go by scenes and the original idea of them

Wow, that's really creative, and certainly a way to spend time on this game as we wait for updates, I might try this.

Most of my wolves I have made thus far are simply already written characters I use to use in rp on WolfQuest 2.7. The dreams don't hold much weight for me until the full game is released, and may never hold any weight for me other than something fun to look at while I wait for the time to change in the game.

As far as favorite goes though, I like the one where it shows the two wolves and the pups. I think it is adorable.

80% of my wolf Freya's dreams have been about roads and either herself, wolves, or other animals about to get hit by a truck. I like to think that she came from outside the park and had several run-ins with vehicles.

Shower thought: What if the dreams in WolfQuest represent your own wolf's life (puppyhood? adolescence?) in its natal pack before it dispersed?

The dreams and nightmares really are a curiosity...

My main wolf's name is actually named Dreams, and I think its a neat idea that your wolf can have Dreams, or Nightmares. So far I've gotten a wolf howling on top of the mountain heights, a flock of crows, Wolves hunting down a buffalo calf, and starving wolves, due to the prey running low from a fire. (Funny thing was, I first encountered this feature, right after I finished the Find a Mate quest.)

It seems to connect into an omen, maybe from the past of your wolf, maybe the future of that wolf, or even just something random. I imagine it as Past, and Future thoughts from your wolf.

I came up with a backstory for my mysterious wolf, Citrus. As the oldest, she looked after her six other siblings. One day, her parents went out to hunt. After awhile, they didn't come back. So Citrus went out to find them. Once she got to the creek, she found a grizzly standing over them. Her parents were dead.
She went back to the den with a rabbit. It was small, but it was better than nothing. They had to move on, otherwise the wolf pack nearby would come to get them. She led them through rain. One day, a cougar came by, hunting a deer, but decided to snatch her brother, Moose.
One morning, she woke up to find only her youngest sister and brother- Ivy and Teddy-. Something must have gotten the others.
Eventually, the three of them were old enough to hunt and defend themselves. They stayed together, and eventually, Citrus had a mate and three pups- until a fire came.
Her pups were still very small. Two eagles managed to carry her mate and three other carried the pups away. Citrus tried getting them back, only to get a slash from an eagles claw on her eye.
Since then, the three of them split up to have their own lives- but they still dream of each other.
