Worst case scenario is starting a new game with the same wolf.
If it's a big bother, I'd suggest just switching to Challenging, even if it's not very realistic, and playing on that setting, since health regains much quicker than in Accurate. :)
So far accurate has been fun for me, but then I failed an elk hunt and I was just stuck with minuscule health for like...forever. I slept again and again and again and again. There's nothing else you can do in that period because you might die if attacked, and "well, I guess I'll just keep spamming Z for several minutes until the game decides to give me health", isn't very engaging or entertaining gameplay.
You can hunt and kill most prey if you bite carefully and avoid break off damage. Careful targeting of wounded limbs i noticed gives better damage exchange letting you retain more health. Also it seems that the speed of the target increases the damage your wolf take so ambushing targets lets you slow them faster. Also if you make a target run longer they eventually slow down and become easier targets.
Lots of ways to reduce your damage taken when hunting elk or moose on Accurate the health regen is just another way of forcing you to be much more careful. Honestly i wouldnt change it from what it is. If you get hurt more than expected just snack on a few rabbit to tide you over as you heal.
maybe im just impatient after playing to many other games where you gotta wait an eternity for doing a bit of the fun stuff but, prey hurting you to the point of having to give up the hunt sounds like reason enough to be more careful. no need for an extra punishment of waiting an hour or two to hunt again because scavenging all over the map to keep hunger high enough for health to regenerate takes a while.
That's a good point. Since sleeping advances 8 hours of time, it's likely everyone will need to sleep at the same time, which would be a clustertruck. I'm sure they'll be tweaking the mechanics for multiplayer. At least, I should hope.
