Picking up chunks and Sprint
Whenever I try to take a chunk from a carcass my wolf just eats it. I double tap the spacebar and nothing. It’s frustrating, especially when some cougar/bear/etc is after my carcass and I just want to quickly grab a bit of food and run. A couple of days ago I decided to change my controls and changed the pick up and drop chunk to F. Apparently you can only have one action per key. Cuz I couldn’t have both. So I tried to change them both back to spacebar. It was a nightmare. Couldn’t eat, couldn’t drop the chunk I had in my mouth, etc. It would be nice if we had another key for picking up/dropping food or at least the ability to change our keys without it messing up the game and being able to have keys for multiple different actions.

Another issue I have is the sprint. Whenever I press shift to change from trot to gallop and vice versa I have to press it like 3-6 times before it actually changes.

Edit:
I fixed the trot to gallop issue. I set it to Q and it seems to work much better, so I think it’s my shift key which might be playing up. I just need a solution for my chunk problem now. If anyone knows how to set my chunk pick up AND drop to F then lemme know Cuz when I tried it failed.

Edit 2:
Read my comment. It’s still a problem. I have a video too.

This isn't necessarily the game's fault. What graphics setting are you running the game at, and what's your average FPS? I run the game on fastest and still get 8-14 FPS. It's playable, but the lag does mean that some input gets eaten up by it, especially doubl-taps. It won't matter what button the action is bound to. This happens in all games that don't run well on computers below minimum requirement. That's just how the tech operates across the board.

The devs are working on more optimization but in the end it's most likely your average lagspike causing the game to disregard your input, and there's not a whole lot the devs can do about it if you're running a low-end rig.

If you're running the game and don't really drop below 20 FPS at any given time, then that may be an issue with the game. But again, the devs are already working on it.

It’s not a lag issue. I know lag when I see it. The character just doesn’t respond at all until I’ve spammed the button quite a lot of times. I barely get lag on this game. I used to play it on Fast settings no problem, but since the update where it automatically selects your graphics I’ve been playing on custom Fastest. My laptop is quite old, but it’s been able to handle and play games like Skyrim (both original and the remastered) and Garry’s Mod without problem or with occasional lag. Both games mentioned have some double tapping involved at times and they’ve always worked fine and responded almost immediately. But on this they don’t respond at all and I have to keep pressing the button multiple times. Even if it was lag and my computer’s fault it should respond on the at least the third try though rarely does it respond on the third time.
