Video games are escapism and allow you to experience things you normally would not. I can hope for that never to be the case with Homeless Simulator, but its existence as a game is justified nonetheless.
And no your own life choices have nothing to do with where you end up, life is entirely unjust and unfair and no matter how hard you try there are points you may reach a cliff that simply cannot be passed. If you've never faced a situation like that you are either extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ young or extremely naive or both.
That's not to say you can't take yourself out of being in a literal pit, sometimes you just need an external force to help you out to get back on your feet, for example you fall in a hole, no matter how hard you jump, no matter how many times you try and run up the wall, nothing is going to get you up. The only way out is either to have someone help you out, or let outside forces help you out. For example maybe in a freak chance the rock cracks and falls and builds a way up for you, or perhaps unheard of rain manages to fill the entire hole up within hours to the point where you're able to swim out, that is what I'm talking about, no matter how much will you have there are situations that cannot be overcome without outside influence.
The only reason I'm not dead or on the street today is because I won the metaphorical lottery and was given a second chance at life, I had no education, I had no experience, I had lost my will to live way before that and after being given that second chance I was able to go from grade school level education all the way to studying high level computer science at university, purely through will alone. Your life decisions guide you but in a truly dire situation the only way to even get to that point is a miracle.
So yeah, no clue what background or disposition you have but if you seriously think people aren't extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ privileged in this day and age you seriously need to educate yourself. The past 70 years or so are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ incredibly sheltered that people seriously have lost their way, you can see this clearly with people literally crying over this pandemic that's currently happening, peace has made people extremely weak.
as a game this is perfectly legit, and not exploitative or in any way morally wrong
i can point you to a lot of murder simulators, video games with rape, hell even movies entertain audiences with those 2 things, over being homeless. i think homelessness hits too close to home for some people.
They are shelters that gives food everywhere, the church, garbage, tons of commerce that will give you free food if you ask them at the right time, such as bakeries at 2am. There's people buying you food, taking you out to restaurant once in a blue moon, there's shelter who have outreach program and deliver hot dogs and socks at night, and then there's your own money you can use.
And games with "murder" in them are not murder simulators, killing people is simply a game mechanic and not the core focus of the game, it's something the "do" not the end goal. However games like this where simulation is the main goal and the entire concept itself is the point that's where it becomes a problem for certain people.
