Man...How'd we get here? lmao
I know the devs made this to educate people about their own experiences but man have we seriously reached a point where people are literally willing to pay to play a game that simulates being homeless? like jesus christ how privileged have people become? lol

I've been near homeless, parents have been homeless and friends have as well, I just can't even imagine myself paying money for something like this, rubs me the wrong way in every direction. I guess this is for people who are clueless about it but no way in hell can I see someone who has actually been homeless paying something just to revisit something that doesn't need to be revisited, put that money towards getting yourself above water, even if you feel stable now, no matter how rich and wealthy a single thing can throw you back down to the depths without notice.

Not to mention why are all the characters black? No clue if you can change that in-game but from seeing the steam page that's all I'm seeing. I seriously hope the devs aren't trying to say something like "only people of colour have it hard" because if that's the gig you people probably haven't even been homeless lmao

I'd also prefer to not be in a zombie apocalypse or on the beaches of Normandy during D-Day, yet I've played games dealing with either scenario.

Video games are escapism and allow you to experience things you normally would not. I can hope for that never to be the case with Homeless Simulator, but its existence as a game is justified nonetheless.

maybe you should try the game: first you are helping others with charity, second you are obtaining slightly better comprehension of being homeless. i am kinda poor even if my family have an house still i spend cash to finance developers and play their games and in charity to help anyone in need.

Read my post again, I said this game wouldn't be enjoyable for people who have knowledge of how it is to be homeless, I never said it wouldn't be enjoyable otherwise.

Like I said re-read the post, I said people who already have comprehension on how it feels to be homeless wouldn't enjoy this, never said it wasn't a good product for someone who doesn't know what it's like.

There is no such thing a "privilege", that's an excuse people use who suffer from envy. You are where you are because of your own life choices.
Are you retarded? Privilege is literally in the dictionary you ♥♥♥♥, people who are given unlimited chances, born under extreme wealth and not liable to the consequences of their own actions is privilege. Eating food is privilege, being on the internet is privilege, not having to worry about if you'll be able to survive for the next week is privilege. If you've never faced any of these things you are in fact privileged, that's common sense.

And no your own life choices have nothing to do with where you end up, life is entirely unjust and unfair and no matter how hard you try there are points you may reach a cliff that simply cannot be passed. If you've never faced a situation like that you are either extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ young or extremely naive or both.

That's not to say you can't take yourself out of being in a literal pit, sometimes you just need an external force to help you out to get back on your feet, for example you fall in a hole, no matter how hard you jump, no matter how many times you try and run up the wall, nothing is going to get you up. The only way out is either to have someone help you out, or let outside forces help you out. For example maybe in a freak chance the rock cracks and falls and builds a way up for you, or perhaps unheard of rain manages to fill the entire hole up within hours to the point where you're able to swim out, that is what I'm talking about, no matter how much will you have there are situations that cannot be overcome without outside influence.

The only reason I'm not dead or on the street today is because I won the metaphorical lottery and was given a second chance at life, I had no education, I had no experience, I had lost my will to live way before that and after being given that second chance I was able to go from grade school level education all the way to studying high level computer science at university, purely through will alone. Your life decisions guide you but in a truly dire situation the only way to even get to that point is a miracle.

So yeah, no clue what background or disposition you have but if you seriously think people aren't extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ privileged in this day and age you seriously need to educate yourself. The past 70 years or so are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ incredibly sheltered that people seriously have lost their way, you can see this clearly with people literally crying over this pandemic that's currently happening, peace has made people extremely weak.

obviously a touchy subject for you, if you think murdering people is OK in video games, but being homeless is not.

as a game this is perfectly legit, and not exploitative or in any way morally wrong

i can point you to a lot of murder simulators, video games with rape, hell even movies entertain audiences with those 2 things, over being homeless. i think homelessness hits too close to home for some people.

I have personally lived in shelters and been homeless..a few things I want to point out there should be more hunger fulfillment in the shelter..I never went that hungry in a shelter and I was really happy to a have a place to stay..I also succeeded in becoming a production manager for events and whatnot and saw a lot of homeless people make it a musicians..not really too fair ..more happiness and food please...
outlaw937 May 5, 2020 @ 9:35pm
love the game though just need a little more happiness..
Iv never run out of food or been hungry in all my 7 years of homelessness. I live in a first world country (Canada) so you have to be very unresourceful and inexperienced to actually run out of food.

They are shelters that gives food everywhere, the church, garbage, tons of commerce that will give you free food if you ask them at the right time, such as bakeries at 2am. There's people buying you food, taking you out to restaurant once in a blue moon, there's shelter who have outreach program and deliver hot dogs and socks at night, and then there's your own money you can use.

Did you even read my post? I never said there was something wrong with this game, nor did I say it can't be insightful/enjoyed by certain groups. However for most people who've been through tough times I find it pretty disturbing that anyone would want to pay money just to relive that type of ♥♥♥♥ again lol makes no sense.

And games with "murder" in them are not murder simulators, killing people is simply a game mechanic and not the core focus of the game, it's something the "do" not the end goal. However games like this where simulation is the main goal and the entire concept itself is the point that's where it becomes a problem for certain people.

No one is triggered, it's a discussion.
