Please Uninstall all traces of Myst IV from your system, completely. Once that's done, exit Steam and restart the computer, then log in after restarting and re-install the game only from Steam.
Then try launching and playing the game again and see if the issue persists.
If I delete the game completely & reinstall from Steam again, will that no delete the game file as I'm halfway through a game? Also, the original Myst IV Revelation was only on 1 CD/DVD so I didn't have several CD's like its asking for. Riven had five but this only had 1 I think.
A bigger question is how the macOS version of Myst IV is running on your Mac at all, since Codeweavers has not yet finished updating Myst IV, V, and Uru: CC to be compatible with Apple's 2019 application requirement changes that mandate any Catalina OS apps and games are 64-bit only.
The old DVD versions have been incompatible with the last few MacOSs.
The reason we asked about whether you'd played the game on disk on that Mac (no matter the OS) in the past is because the Mac is somewhere storing the memory of requesting the disk to allow you to play - the disk games had to remain in the computer in order for the game to be played.
I don't have Catalina installed on this little mac. It is OS Mojave that is running. It has been updated each time apple brought out a new OS until I reached Catalina and didn't install it on this mac for the reason of wanting to play 32 bit games. Real Myst Riven & Exile will all play on the Mac I have Catalina on though despite the fact they aren't supposed to, though the Real Myst game I'd already purchased again through the app store. The Steam version won't play. I can't wait for them to update the other Cyan games since screen mirroring the others isn't so quick. I think I'll have to get to the end of this game of Myst IV before uninstalling it. I don't see how it will make a difference though unless I can find the file data on the machine that stops it thinking I should be inserting a disk.
Codeweavers has not yet finished updating Myst IV, V, and Uru: CC. As soon as they complete the work to bring those games in line with Apple's new requirements, there will be an announcement.
Thanks.

There is no estimate to give, sorry.
