Ah, but that's the thing. Try as I might, I have not been able to find this option in my video card's settings. Where is it? I have a GTX 1070 Founder's Edition, if that matters...
EDIT: Nevermind. I just finally figured it out. The problem is, the settings are worded differently from how they're usually described online, and in your advice above (which was still helpful, so thank you).
If anyone else is having the same issue, this was the solution: NVIDIA Control Panel > Adjust Desktop Size and Position > Select "No Scaling" > Click dropdown menu titled "Perform scaling on:" and select GPU > Make sure "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs" is NOT selected > Apply and Save the settings. Now, I can play this game in the original resolution, without any stretching, and it's surrounded by blackness. I wonder if there's any way, now, to just "stretch" this correct version to a larger size. I don't mean change the resolution, just basically zoom up the frame a little. That would be nice. But regardless, the long wait is over.
My desktop is normal-sized at 1920x1080 (the native resolution), and the scaling only happens when I play the Myst game.
