Myst IV
I couldn't find a Mac OS 10.14 group for Myst IV Revelations and am just starting with Steam. I hope you don't mind this post and can answer this. I purchased Myst IV two days ago and, being a writer, only had the chance to launch it today. I am using the Steam client but only get the left half of the screen with the intro and dialogue pane. ie, the screen on my retina 27 inch is cut in half. Weird. Intro is ony half of the picture as is the rest of the game thus far. What is the probelm and can it be fixed?

Check to see if there are any updates available for your Mac

Use Disk Utility to check the integrity of the operating system
Click the First Aid tab.
Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
Select your Startup Disk (usually named "Macintosh HD"). Can check other drives as well.
Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.

Try verifying the game cache;
Right-click on the game in your Steam library, select properties, select the local files tab, and click “Verify Integrity of game cache”.

Try reinstalling;
Click on “delete local game content” either in the tab or the right click menu.

If those don't resolve the issue I would go ahead and create and account and create a ticket at http://support.cyanworlds.com/ or you can also email at support@cyan.com

A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

This is not an isolated case. I experienced the same thing on a freshly installed version of the game. Litteraly purchased, downloaded, ran, and never saw the right half of the screen. iMac 2014 running 10.14 (Mojave). Tried it on a MBP running 10.13 (High Sierra) and it works there.

Same results with Myst V. My guess is these games do not work on 10.14.

Oh, and to the developer: Don't mark the previous post as answering the topic. It's not an answer but another user guessing as to possible solutions (which, as that user expected, don't work). We are awaiting your anwser.

On a 2012 iMac on 10.14.1(Beta) in testing we're not seeing this issue.

Same with Myst V on the same machine, macOS 10.14.1 (Beta).

As @Noitalever suggested, create an account and ticket at http://support.cyanworlds.com/ or you can also email at support@cyan.com for further help.

Hey. Just have bought Revelation and am really happy to get back to this amazing game. But there's something really bad about it: the loading times between two locations (I mean EVERY change of location, which means every time you move). I've been trying to modify the setups but it didn't change a thing about it. Appart from this, it's working (I mean the game runs, the trees move, the focus on the hand works...and so on). I've got a MBA late 2018, with 16Go of memory and of course an SSD drive. This is really weird and kind of annoying because u have to move a lot... Any chance someone knows what to do?

Did you try my suggestions? Is so I would probably try contacting Cyan support, I have not come across any additional ideas from other users yet of how to deal with such an issue on Mac OSX.

Deyvidrennes, has anyone answered your question about long loading times for every move? I sent two queries to support@cyan about this because I had a similar issue with an old version of the game that I somehow converted to run on my newer Mac. I thought I might buy the Steam version to fix the lag problem. So I'm wondering if this lag issue is just baked into it. I would think that your hardware is powerful enough. Hope you (we!) find a fix.

I'm having this same issue on a fresh install of macOS 10.14. Any updates?

No updates. :(

Hey. I didn’t check my steam account these last weeks sorry. @Noitalever I tried to do everything u said in ur response but it didn’t change anything. So for everyone else, sorry Imbutni still have the « very slow transitions » issue. Which is especially annoying on the last part of the game (it requires to move a lot...). Too bad. Because playing to revelation again was really exciting!

Hi, I've just recently purchased Myst IV for iMac 27" (late 2015), running Mojave 10.14.6 . I've configured my AV to ignore the Myst Iv.exe file, I've re-downloaded the game 4 times, and verified game files successfully each time. However, I get the same half a screen problem that you described here as soon as the game launches each time. And still no updates? If the game is unplayable, we should get a refund ... Really frustrating!

A few things you could try;

Try verifying the game cache;
Right-click on the game in your Steam library, select properties, select the local files tab, and click “Verify Integrity of game cache”.

Try reinstalling;
Click on “delete local game content” either in the tab or the right click menu.

If those don't resolve the issue email support@cyan.com and attach your Mac's specs for reference.
