Is there a way for me to play alone with bots?

The game is seemingly forcing solo players to play on public lobbies. Only with at least two players can you create a private match.

The players are so bad that everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Birds are always startled, alarm doors are always opened, no objective is being done, they are constantly downed without contributing anything to the team, and reviving them is basically bait.

There was even a time where I got caught and it took the team 10 full seconds to realize I was caught, they were all running forward.

Bots are predictable, they follow you, they give you meds, ammo and do not cause friendly or unwanted hordes.

From what I understand, Offline mode does not allow for deck progression, which makes it useless.

If by "deck progression" you mean unlocking new cards, yes, you can do that offline.

In the beginning of it's release no, but now, yes. Any progression you make offline, such as unlocking new cards, completing challenges and even unlocking achievements, will be saved. Only thing that doesn't save is of course Leaderboards.

Quite sure you can do deck progression in offline mode, it just takes longer because you don't get a party bonus.

I build most of my deck purely in offline mode and grinding in offline too.

Yes, just Leaderboards. I played the entire game and unlocked everything Offline so don't worry.

Ventea is right about it taking longer though. You do get less supply points in Offline.
