Tbh, if I really go for SMG, I'd go for UMP or Prototype in almost any case. Good range, very high ammo efficiency, normal clip and adequate action vs Specials.
The Vector's Anti-snitcher-/special and whole-horde executing capabilities are low. Pairing the weapon with clip size attachments is particularly effective at fixing that. Also SMG reload card.
those aren't actually cards, but Legendary Attachments typically found from opening Warped Chests (best done with Tool Kits & Cursed Keys), although a couple of those attachments can be obtained through Legendary Attachment burn cards.
and this is specifically why I always want Tala on my team, whether as a Bot teammate during a solo game, or someone joining as her during a Co-Op session. Because she's key to scoring some good stuff rather early if possible.
but like the other guy said, typically the UMP and Prototype are better SMG's in general
Tala, in particular, has an additional synergy effect with the Vector and M249 and the attachments Can of Whup'Ass & The Motherload for a simple reason - the faster and more you pump in, the more the bleeding effect(s).
don't forget, that Tala also has potential as a Melee character as well, because you can stack her passive "bleed effect" along with the Iron Claws, which increases the bleed effect even further
With attachments/decks, the "best dps weapon" is a flavor of shotgun with infinite range attachment and a deck to go with it.
I was reluctant about using it at first due to the still boring recoil compared to '870 but just with some control cards and aiming down S whenever needed for a weakspot or else, the recoil gets nullified.
My guess is that the white box spawn isn't blocked in inaccessible areas. For example in A1M1, right after the first staircase there's a room on the right that can spawn a white box but can also be blocked off. With bad enough rng, it's probably possible to have both occur at the same time.
Even a blue one is enough to rock'n roll with some more reload speed extra, although if I had to choose between green Super and purple '870, then it'd be the second option.
SMGs are good mid-range options, but with their limits. Also reload speed on them doesn't have any special effect as they are in a sharper need of Admin reload, which lowers the total DPS.
A purple S90 easily beats guns from other archetypes, but it does lose to AA12 in shotgun category.
I love these builds, i've sung their praises since before Fill em Full of lead was added which fixed the large card investment to get things off the ground.
The main thing to remember is that the tec9 doesnt scale as well as primaries, so while a Grey Vector is doing 13.2k dps, the Tec9's not too shabby at 9k, but at purple a Vector is blasting out over 20kdps while the tec9 is down at 12.5k. So later on you need to be using the tec9 for commons and keeping fill em + powerswap active and then blasting the Vector as much as possible with an extended mag of some sort on specials and swapping back to it as soon as you hear its loaded.
The main downsides to the Vector+Tec9 are:
-Its super ammo hungry, you are basically forced to give up a card for ammo stash which is a damage opportunity cost compared to other weapons.
-Low stumble, you can get around this by taking Empowered Assault but its not super consistent as anyone with a sniper or shotgun that has a huge damage spike has an easier time last hitting specials denying you the effect.
Also this is another card that could just be raw damage.
-Attachments. Basically every weapon has attachments that are insane on them but the ones that seem made for SMG's are mobility based which kinda sucks so you are either fighting snipers/shotgunners for raw damage attachments that might gimp you in other ways or using the generic attachments which are less game breaking than the legendary ones. You are also super reliant on swap stocks.
Although its also kind of a good thing that you arent super reliant on a certain attachment for your build to pop off, its a very consistent build.
There's stronger builds out there for sure - but this ones super fun.
