Why did this game fail at launch?
Exactly as the title mentions. Why did this game fail at launch? I've been playing this game for close to about a week now, mix with Solo and Online matches. So far I've had nothing but a great time. Building decks to suit the specific characters and how each time i visit the same act, enemies are slightly different as difficulty increases. My only gripe about the game is there are some jank moments but i mean, don't most games do now a days?

Anyways I hope to see you all in the game as well! Have a great day and Happy Holidays!

The difficulty had to be nerfed multiple times over the course of a few months, and even the card drawing system had to be reworked completely at some point, going from one card per map to your entire deck in the first level (which would explain why campaigns were so flippin long).

Some of the bugs, such as ghost bullets, or stacking corruption cards (which still happens on no hope/nightmare in some levels) were almost game breaking, and took time for the developers to actually fix.

B4B already had an infamous reputation by the time most would have reconsidered playing it again and the masses are not fond of giving things second chances.

didnt live up to the expectations coupled with an absurd steep price on top of being buggy and unplayable on high difficulties

Damn that is a real shame, i feel like where it is now is great and i hope people really do give it another shot. especially since a lot of the part when it comes to the games difficulty is probably not as bad as it was then.

Thank you, i kinda understand now.

Its because the game still is at unfinished state.

I have friends that refuse to give this game even a shot, just because they saw Youtube videos with people complaining about it. I think the reputation is the number one problem right now, and I truly hope that in the future, Turtle Rock will be more careful with the sequel.
Also, PLEASE, I beg the devs to stop promoting the game by saying "from the developers of Left 4 Dead". This game have a lot of potential, stop living in the shadow of it's predecessor, and I say that as someone who played a lot of both games.

because the l4d community is toxic and cant give another game a chance

This was their chance and they failed.

Simply put it didn't live up to the hype and expectations.

slow gameplay and who get loot first enjoy beast DMG so less rsk, then most easist weapon "melee" enjoy all heal and tourma fix while you suffer if you choosed "Aim" and complacated weapon lol then you end up play same 3-4 loadout.

now if you KDed on "no hope" no way getting your back untill next mission or if you decide buying that orange and white device so you most of time get 15 min AFK , is this stupdi desighn.

then wtf why I need waiting 3-4 min for 15 min gameplay?

It was too hard for most people. Original Nightmare was about 250% the difficulty of No Hope is right now.

I actually miss the original chaos of the original "The Fog" corruption card. It used to be so damn foggy, you could literally get turned around and go in the wrong direction it was so thick. I advocated as much as possible for TRS to lower the tuning of B4B, which they did, by a lot, but even as it is, it still gives the people coming from L4D a shock.

And then you gotta accept demographics and hardware realities. Most of us that liked L4D, but got older, are in our 30s now, we like B4B because it asks a lot of questions and gives us multiple choice questions(especially since full deck draws). We upgraded away from 2GB and 4GB GPUs well over a decade ago, but younger people don't always have that luxury, inheriting the hand-me-down electronics of older relatives. Combine all that with not having the ability to easily and conveniently turn Holly into their favourite anime character, and you get an instant thumbs down from a large part of the target demographic that is unable to play the game, or play it in the way they want.

And then you got that very small, very vocal minority demographic that will never move on from L4D2, just like some people will be playing WoW until they die. Sometimes video games come out at the Zeitgeist, and that hooks people for life. I still play Diablo 1 and 2, and will probably do so until I die.

I would love to experience the old B4B myself to see how it is! I also love Holly just the way she is no need to anime her up! Never played L4D but i do see it does have its cult following when it comes to a classic co-op zombie game. But sometimes its nice to try newer and challenging games at time.

Pretty simple, devs marketed it as Left 4 Dead 3 even though it wasn't really anything like Left 4 Dead. I think Left 4 Dead players have a "less is more" mindset when it comes to games like these and didn't like the cards and other additions. Also zero modding while Left 4 Dead is a game that still has a living fanbase years later because of modding.

So would you say if they didn't advertise it as a "L4D3" it probably would have done better? Since I posted this, I looked more into but the only thing I've seen was three team members from the L4D series. But nothing about them advertising it as a L4D sequel? Maybe I didn't look more into it. Now when it comes to modding I heard it was mostly due to the fact the game was cross platform/and the amount of resources and time it takes. (this could be wrong, again, I'm just going off by what little research I did) All in all I'm still enjoying the game. And wish a few people can enjoy this game as well. Thanks for adding some info on this
