How are people this stupid???
This game is infuriating because of how OTHER people play this. I just tried having fun for the last hour but kept getting teammates who would run in a room/trailer/door and immediately stand in front of me. OF COURSE YOU'RE GOING TO GET SHOT IF YOU HAVE NO SEMBLANCE OF SPATIAL REASONING. I'm not even trying to hurt anyone. It's a tight tunnel andi'm clearing out the doorway/trailer/small room.
One moment i'm mowing down zombies rushing me, the next i'm picking the teammate I just shotgunned in the spine.
Then there are other morons who swivel from side to side (!). You look like a nervous ♥♥♥♥♥ and you get shot!
This is purely toxic behaviour that is promoted by toxic mechanics. These sacks of ♥♥♥♥ want the loot before I get there. lol.

STOP DOING STUPID THINGS THAT WILL YOU SHOT.

Its annoying yes but if playing with randoms I suggest down in front card to help alleviate this. :) Again...still annoying though

i just got this game and completed a bunch of the campaign first. Really enjoyed it , in fact so much i bought the DLC. then i tried the online but i also noticed the 'co-op' isnt very cooperative.
There is many ways to grief your team, shoot them in the back, block a door, stay in menu at the shop chest at start of the map so others cant buy, run trough and aggro the entire map, grab and use all the resources.
i really like online mutliplayers when i can work with others instead of versus and try to outsmart each other every 5 seconds for a kill. but this multiplayer aint it.
i dont think the players are that stupid, i think they doing it on purpose.

You will meet some douche players for sure but when you meet nice ones just add them and play together. Of course you will not always be online at the same time but ty the time you have added 10 or 12 players you will consistently have a few online whenever :) That said nothing beats playing with friends irl if you can. Myself and my brothers play a decent amount. Getting back into it again now in anticipation for back 4 blood 2 .

Doesn't matter if I'm playing doc build, SMG, Shotgun, Sniper, or literally anything, Down in Front is a must. Not everyone in this game knows what they're doing, so having this card avoids a lot of trouble, specially if you're playing high DPS builds.

Honestly, I get the frustration, but to me, learning to play around others poor habits or blatant idiocy is part of the charm for coop shooters. It also makes those rare occasions you match with good players feel all the more crisp, refreshing.

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

I never run it because I do be afraid I will develop bad habits. That said I mainly use smg so if I DO accidentally tap someone the damage is minimal (vs a dps shotgun build which absolutely chonks hp or dps sniper) It does however suck when I am shot behind by team mates and my hp goes from 100 to 50 in a mili second lol. The BIGGEST annoyance by far is when a melee user does not use it though.

why are you expecting good team play with random people, you can use one card to counter your problem down in front, no need to cry.
inc Dec 24, 2024 @ 5:27pm
Well, for these "stupid randoms" you're the same stupid random who sits in the corner and shoots at teammates. Play with "Down in front" or on the "Recruit", there is no friendly fire. Or be a man, deal with it and don't cry.

If you dont run down in front on no hope you are a bad team player in my book. And its not about aiming skills. There are so many situations where it allows you to help teammates or do plays that are otherwise impossible. If you dont run it, it means that in all those situations the team suffers because you will avoid firing or slow down to aim, and each second means potentially getting hit, so even weakest zombie will take a chunk of your teammates health in that moment.
For example there are 1-3 zombies between your teammate and you, he is focused somewhere else. You shoot zombies, especially with penetration, you hit friendly, you move to reposition the shot, friendly gets hit by zombies... Friendly is about to get swarmed, you sit and spray and save his entire healthbar potentially.... these situation happen all the time.
Then there is constant potential of being accidentally hit and so on.
When I see people say I dont take it because my aim is good, I cringe and avoid teaming up with them.

I don't use DiF either, but then again I don't play NH with randoms. DiF is a wasted card slot when you play with people who know what they are doing.

"DiF" is good for beginners and people who really need it and have problems with friendly fire (like OP). I don't use it because I just don't shoot my teammates, don't jump in front of them and always moving.

Even if friendly fire happens by accident, it's okay and it happens to everyone (unless you do it on purpose). You just have to try to minimize such situations by improving your game, not solve them by lazily crouching.

"Breakout" is also useful and there are many situations and examples where it can also help and save your life. But it's also a card for beginners and Evangelo players and you can play without it if you now how to play.

Well said:

A lot of players recommend using Down in Front which allows you to toggle off friendly fire at will. But I'll be real with you -- it's become a crutch for many. It's like using a cheat code. And it's hard to stop using it once you're used to it.

Playing a game with friendly fire ON is a lot different than playing with it off. It requires more situational awareness, risk management, movement/trigger discipline, not simply better aim. A game without friendly fire risk enables and rewards brain dead aggressive gameplay that wouldn't otherwise be possible. Whether that's fun is up to the beholder.

But if you want to improve your skills in team FPS (not just in B4B), I'd suggest pretending Down in Front doesn't exist. Always be mindful of everyone's positioning and line of sight, and thinking about risks before pulling the trigger.

An argument can be made that it protects against teamkillers. But trolls use Down in Front too to protect themselves and waste everyone's time. It's better to just find another lobby or to continue the run in another if you're the host.

This time of year there are always an influx of new players in games. The new players (myself included) are learning so more experienced players just need to be patient. The player base will grow if you are friendly but if new players think the existing community is toxic they won't come back.
