Hello is there anyone having this same issue i have bought other games after this game and yet it only happens to this game back4blood.exe - application error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application. i have tried everything online besides factory resetting my pc and i don't really wanna start all over

Try to uninstall the game.

Run the SFC (System File Replacer) utility to fix damaged files. That's the code for corrupted files. Hopefully SFC finds and fixes it for you.

Otherwise the game could just be unable to read the files, make sure your library folder is in a place where your antivirus/similar software won't stop it from functioning properly. Some antivirus programs are allergic to Easy Anti Cheat, and restrict it so much that certain games won't even launch.

So you tried verifying the game files, uninstalled/reinstalled? Just trying to be clear here, because "I have tried everything online" could mean anything.

SFC will probably not fix anything for you, but probably won't hurt anything, either. While technically the code is a memory access violation where an application tried to access memory which does not belong to it, but probably the most common reason is, as mentioned above, a corrupt executable. The reason SFC probably won't work is because it will replace system files, and the B4B executable is not a system file.

Sometimes antivirus programs can get in the way of executables, making them do strange things.

re downloaded like 5 times, sfc wont open even in administrator mode, i have tried to disable firewalls and even anti virus software

first run in command prompt (admin):

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

then

sfc /scannow

I tried but didn't work. I want to swear to this game. It doesn't work both of my PC's :) Once i fixed it somehow but same error again...

Interesting. Hasn't seen that, but what would I do if I go deperate as a PC user...
the game folder is [disk letter, usually C]:\Steam\steamapps\common\Back 4 Blood
Can run directly, without a shortcut. Will say some Gobi-whatever thing, OK button.
And if still nothing...
Can move the folder into a separate pathway, can be on some Archive temporarily, why not.
And install the game on clean, but before that, disable Real-time protections completely, this is just temporary. Turn them on when you are done trying to run the game, not before. You can still try to run game directly via exe and two ways to do it via shortcut (manual & Steam)
Also meanwhile checking the ram with Windows memory Diagnostic and storage with HD Sentinel aren't bad ideas. Shouldn't be those problematic if other games are fine, but who knows. Game is big & pretentious and might've hit a bad memory sector. Also GPU tests. Running full system scan for viruses..is long, but also optional to find mb s.th.
These as long as you cover the minimal game requirements. I wonder what main brands you're using - AMD, Intel or Nvidia for your CPU and GPU.

I have found my anti-virus program prevents the game from opening.
A temp solution I have found is by close the anti-virus open up Back 4 Blood and then reopen the anti virus and I can run the game without issues.

I have temped to add Back4Blood.exe and start_protected_game.exe to my exception lists which did nothing.

Idk, MS/Windows defender, Malwarebytes and Eset never did me any trouble like that.

This is not a game problem, but a Windows one. I've had this before. I'ts a corrupted Windows update. You will probably have to re-install windows. You can do it in recovery mode and keep your files, but you will have to re-install all other games and programs. You should make a backup of your Users directory and any other personal files. .

I have had this issue since JUne 2022. Was fine the night before when i logged off and at 8am the next morning this error. I have not been able to fix it with anything! I have rest comp to factory, did all the troubleshooting eveeryone mentioned above and a ton more, did every step for fixing from TRS and WB games and stem. Tons more from all over google,. quora and tech support from HP and my internet providers.. NOTHING has fixed it. I have tried different computers, even at different locations. Hubby got error on his computer, when 1st downloading game.. He luckily got a refund. Steam refused a refund to me because i had too many hours in game. So it is not a computer issue for sure, if it happens on download. I even got a NEW computer and it still does it. I wish someone could tell me how to fix it cause I loved playing it. I literally tried again this morning and NOPE. I even changed my review from a year ago to update to show this. I made that review 2 days before it did the error. It came after an update was installed from BACK 4 BLood. I was logged out when update came in too. So.. Yeah seriously frustrated about it a year later still. Does not happen on any other game from Steam or has anticheat in it. Just Back 4 Blood.
