Why no Katana?

At least it is a gimmicky thing in games and movies.
Adding more melee weapons need balancing, which TR is no good at, and not now. Much more issue need to be fix

balance ? xD just add a skin for the already short thingy in there so it looks like a katana. no balance is needed for mele weapons in this game lol they all die in 1 hit xD

Do you have oil and to maintain it and a grindstone to keep it sharp? Is there someone who can heat it up and repair dents? No? There is your answer. The machete doesn't need all that because it is not a sword, but more like a cleaver with a thick blade that can be devastating even if not properly maintained. Go watch Skallagrim on YouTube

A baseball bat is useless too, why is it in the game. But I understand the fantasy of using impracticable weapons, because this is a video game after all.

In real life after your fifth swing at a corpse a bat would snap in two.

A Katana, you would have to constantly sharpen it, pretty much after every other kill, and the thinness of the blade would bend like crazy.

A machete, fire axe, combat knife, and hatchet are more practical weapons as they are easy to come by, won't snap like a bat or a thin sword.

Unless you're fighting zombies in Japan, you're not going to run into many Japanese weapons in the woods of Pennsylvania.

I just pretend the machete is a katana (on my good days, I pretend it's a lightsaber with the sound effects playing in a loop on Youtube). It and the bat have the widest range.

It could be a DLC. Something like Dying Light has done, but I don't think it would be really worth it.

In a Melee fight there are only two melee weapons I'd bring.

1. A Katana because light weight and range, and the real ones won't twist, shatter, or dull quickly while making wide slashes.

2. Spiked forearm armor, for backhanding all the speedrunners.

Anything else would be a supressed AR for dealing with them at range.

Although I do miss the chainsaw from L4d2, its loud and cumbersome and you end up making quite a mess.
