what do you mean by trying to be a 2009 game ?
He's talking about Left 4 Dead the previous title to the creators of this game. It's an insanely similar concept just (In my opinion) with 0 love put into it. I recently picked it up since it's on sale for 90% off for the millionth time and I can definitely understand why people bash this game. I haven't gotten too into it yet (waiting for friends to be free so we can play together) but from the little bit i've seen it's just an overly complex modernized (and we all know how modern games are doing currently) version of Left 4 dead series. It's not a bad game but it should've been sold as a $35 game MAX the current full price tag is absolutely stupid for the gameplay.
It's def worth it on sale for 10 bucks tho
Actually B4B wasn't geared towards casuals on release. People just want it to be afk easy on campaign which isn't what was intended.
As you can see from Simple Tora, they want something simple and not complex. Hence, what they are comparing. They expect l4d3 not a newer game and harder at that. When I watch people play though, it's like they skipped all the explaination tutorials in game.
Reviews are mixed because:
- the game was simply overpriced for what it offered
- sometime after launch either bugs or WB infrastructure cuts messed up hitreg perfo
- it took ages for the new content (and some of the important fixes) to arrive
- there was no other game modes like Horde Mode or PvP Campaign (and ppl wanted these)
- first other (than Coop Campaign or Round PvP) game mode was released waaaay too late
- general public is full of simpletons and simple people like simple games (like L4D)
- ...there is something about the sentiment one guy raised on youtube: that card deck stacking part clashed with actual gameplay pacing. Skill trees a'la PD2 could be better.
