Gauntlet crescendo event.
The whole point of having a constant stream of enemies is to add some urgency, you have to think on your feet, you are forced to do the objs, if you are being greedy and slow down too much then you are punished by having to fight more stuff.
Lore wise though the USA has what like 350 million people so probably coming from that.
Also they reset the map every time you look away, like you killed some zombies, you look other way, and here you have yet again zombies on the area that you cleared one second ago, it just suxx.
But they are not coming from hives moron, they are teleporting, I guess it doesn't bother ppl with low iq.
I'm with you 100% though, it would be absolutely cool AF if there were 10,000+ active spawns methodically closing distance on you the second the Ridden calls down a horde, and you could see them all over the map climbing over walls, busting down doors and ripping their way out of the blood tumours to track you down.
Sadly I think we will be waiting a long time for that as the vast majority of hardware that people play on was top-tier tech from 5 years ago at best and thats being generous. Maybe by the 2050s we will have some beefy enough hardware for developers to make a game like I described.
Thats because TRS are incompetent devs, and because L4D2 is 13 years old and designed to run on potato PCs. Just look at WWZ, hundreds if not thousands of zombies on your screen at a given time. And no FPS drops or issues even on my 6 year old laptop.
So you don't mind that weapons have magical "qualities", you dont mind literal MAGIC weapons and attachments, you dont mind hulking 20 meter tall enemies, or the game environment littered with bright orange loot boxes every 10 meters or so, but your immersion is ruined because, what? 2-3 maps have an infinite horde? Come on dude.
Can't play that game either. It's unrealistic.
