A developer said on Reddit They had to disable it because of the UGLY visual aspect, in spaces with too much brightness !!!
So the game textures became ugly...

This also mean they are not good at their job coz this is the only thing they could do and it will stay like this.

Edit : I forgot to precise that they removed the possibility to toggle ON / OFF, they locked it in Manual mod are they are disabled to make a decent game.

Nope, it triggers automatically in dark areas.

Not NEARLY enough dark areas.

The technology just isn't there yet.

You are asking too much, it is 2022 there is no technology to make a properly functioning flashlight, much less for shadow casting derived from the flashlight.
C'mon man!

Obviously the devs want you to buy a flashlight irl and point it at your screen whenever it gets too dark.

I think it's the same thing Sand Storm went through.

You think you want flashlights but you don't. Devs know what players want better than players obviously. It's current year after all, why would devs care what players want or expect.

The dev's did this so the game would not look like ♫♫♫♫, or crash and have that darn Unreal error box show up. And we all have seen that box. So far this is the ONLY Unreal game that hasn't crashed. Maybe YOU experts could go into Unreal engine and implement a button nodes for four console types, Windows. C'mon let's see the mods?
Maybe give the dev's a break.

The reason there isn't a toggle is because there weren't enough buttons on console controllers. One of the drawbacks of crossplay compatibility.

Maybe in the future they add a manual mode and button just for PC but it's probably low priority. They'd probably sooner add the automatic toggle in more places where it'd be useful, works fine most of the time but there is the odd dark corner here and there.

funnier than that, OTHER PLAYERS’ flashlights cast shadows (looks pretty nice actually) and your own flashlight doesn’t

no idea why this is the case, if it’s performance they’re trying to conserve from the player casting shadows with their own flashlight then there’s no point

i miss those post processing effects :c

Performance is not the issue there. 3 flashlights creating dynamic shadows are more expensive that 1.

So have it automatic on console and allow PC players to play the game like it's from 2022 and not 1992... Using performance or controller limitations to defend this bs is so laughable why did you even bother typing.
