How do you unlock other Acts?

Not joking, what are the requirements? Because I've already finished the first chapter starting from the very beginning, then did a run from the second or third level of the first chapter until the very end of the Act, and it's still locked. Wtf?

The way it should work is you complete all of Act 1 to unlock Act 2 and all of Act 2 to unlock Act 3 and so on. If you aren't bugged in some way.

Since you didn't specifically say it in your post: are you using solo mode or co-op?

Play coop, beat levels.

Also, if you are trying to up your difficulty from recruit to something higher then you have to beat act 1 in that higher level difficulty first.

Which I did. Must I beat the whole of Chapter 1 in one run, starting from the very first level of the first chapter?

I've heard talk of having to be alive at the end of each saferoom for something, maybe it was an achievement, but perhaps it also applies for this too.

Assuming your game is not bugged.
Did you play with friends or quick match with randoms? The reason I ask is that if you missed a stage then you will not progress.
Quick experiment - go to campaign - start run, select difficulty and select act 1 - below that you will see select starting point - click on that and you will see what checkpoints you have unlocked - if all are unlocked until end of act 1 then your game is bugged.

Another possibility - if you did tutorial and then continued with the story the tutorial part does not count as part of campaign (several people have reported this) - you have to do the section that is included in the tutorial in the actual campaign.

really? that is very interesting. I was sure I had died during my veteran play through and my crew finished without me. I got the achievements. Could it be that I finished that particular level on a different run and did not die and that counted towards the overall achievement?

Good to to know, thanks. That means I can salvage my act 1 nightmare - i finished it, unlocked act 2 - but no achievement. If only I could remember which safe house I failed.

I have completed act 2 multiple time....act 3 has never unlocked. Could it be because I have beaten many times, but always from joining quick play games?

I don't specifically know if it's because of quick play, however you'd need to complete every map regardless. If you've played every map on Act 2 (so not just ending up in games post map 1 and completing the rest of the act) and it's not unlocked that sounds like it might be quick play.

Thank you, the starting point menu tells me exactly what I need. For some reason it didn't register that I've finished the last 2 chapters (Abandoned and The Sound of Thunder), but I just started on Abandoned, cleared both levels and unlocked the next act.
