Hell, be intuitive, if you're a specific character, you get a specific type of healing item that spawns in the safe room. Mom could get pills, Doc could get medkits, etc.
This current system leads to everyone using Money Grubbers. Why wouldn't you? It's such a broken card it'd be stupid not to take it.
My friend rocks a pretty good Doc build, and he can heal 30-40 trauma with medkits later on. Which is more than the first-aid cabinets heal. Once he gets that build going, there is no point to using first-aid cabinets unless we just ran out of medkits. We often buy medkits and heal up at the shop before starting a level. Doc also runs compound interest so we drop him all our money at the end of a stage as it gives a 10% bonus on that at the start of the next one. We often finish vet runs with 5-10k copper spare at the end.
