What does Mean Drunk cleave do?
It says:
"Your Melee Attacks cause cleave through enemies dealing damage in a large area."

I've played with it for a while and it doesn't seem to actually do anything. If I'm using a hatchet or a fire axe, none of the zombies to the side of my target get hit or killed. If I'm using a machete or a bat they do, but that's because the weapons already do that. I don't understand what the cleave effect on this card does.

I assume it is the same as the other references to cleave, meaning your weapons don't stick in "Tough" enemies.
Don't take my word for it, there is no reason the description should be different than other abilities that do that if it is a correct assessment however.

Cleave does damage to an area.

This is the normal use case for this term but does not apply to this game. Cleave power increases the amount of bodies you can cut through without the blade sticking.

Also I believe the type of melee weapon you're using matters as well; IE the axes only swing overhead, meaning you can only nail zombies in a line, whereas the bat and machete swing wide.

That's been my experience. You have the two axes for focused up to down strikes and the bat/machete for area hits. On maps where you don't want to be headshotting ridden who explode if you do so it can make a world of difference switching from an axe to the others.

I could have sworn that when I use mean drunk it does AOE damage. It's just a very narrow cone (especially compared to the innate AOE that the bat/machete have).
