Demo FAQ
Dear community,

since there are some reoccuring questions about the game in this forum, we compiled a list to answer these thoroughly:

The demo size is already huge. Will the full game be delivered on 8 hard drives?

Since the game uses virtual texturing, all textures in the game are combined into one "mega texture". Therefore the demo contains all game textures, even for the levels which are not included. This takes up most of the install space.

So for the final version, the size will not drastically grow.

We expect an install size of around 65 GB.

What content will the full game offer?

The demo represents the very beginning of the game. The full game will offer a 12-18 hour experience with many new locations, set pieces and characters to meet, all with their own backgrounds and storylines.

The game follows one main story line, but offers multiple side storys and secrets that can be discovered by exploration at your own pace. It's like a "miniature" open-world that opens up, changes and evolves around you.

I experience a lot of smearing in the graphics. Is it my monitor or the game?

It is the game. Two things currently cause most of the smearing (disocclusion artifacts): Screen Space Reflections and Ambient Occlusion. After the demo release and feedback, we have already tweaked the settings drastically. We also strongly recommend using STP (for upscaling) as it helps cleaning up at least some of the artifacts.

Additionally, we will provide more setting options in the full release to tweak/disable these effects.

I experience some stuttering in Harold's movement.

This is currently connected to the game performing with lower fps. We are looking at ways to fix it for the full release. For the demo, try to optimize the graphics settings to get the best experience:

- Enable upscaling with STP
- Set Volumetric Fog to Low
- Enable Dynamic Resolution

Harold walks slow. Can he move faster?

Harold might not be as fit as Buddy or Chris, but he can still run using Shift (Keyboard), X (XBOX Controller) or Square (PS Controller).

Will I be able to continue the full game from my demo save file?

In theory this is already possible and we are aiming to deliver it this way. The only thing why we cannot confirm it for sure atm is that we haven’t had the time to properly test it. We don’t want to promise if we aren’t fully sure that it’s working without complications.

Will the Full Version be optimized for playing on Steam Deck and Linux?

Internally we already have a working Linux/Steam Deck version, but there are still a couple of things to optimize and work around like video playback (Linux doesn't support H264, so we have to re-encode all the videos for example).

Will the game be available on Mac?

We will release the game for Macs with Silicon Chipsets.

Please note: Both the Linux & Mac versions are going to ship later than the initial release, as we want to thoroughly test them and ensure that they have the same quality.

We hope this guide helps to enjoy the demo to it's fullest and we'll update the list as we go.

How long will the demo be available for? I'm quite sure I'm very near the end, but not quite there!

About 1,5 hrs.
Hello! Are there any info regarding the native Linux/Steam Deck version? I'm really excited about the game since launch and wanted to get it while there's the nice promotion but only if there's a confirmation that a native version still is on the way :)
(unrelated nitpicking but "Linux doesn't support H264" doesn't really mean anything, I can play H264 video just fine in various players, it's more of a game engine thing here I guess)
