How to Level up Yggr?

I'd probably find out if i played more but i'm like 50+ hours in and i need him at level 2 to get upgrades. Do i need to play with debuffs/boons for him to level up? Just wondering, thanks if anyone answers. :)

You already answered your own question. :) When u finished a playthrough with boons next time when you start a new run and drink from that bowl again, he will level up. I'm not sure if the length of the run before, the amount of boons etc. play into it in any sort of way or if its enough to only activate one for the same amount of xp.

Okay thanks for letting me know for sure now, i did play with a couple boons before but died early in the run so i wasn't sure since he didn't level up, guess ya need to make it pass a whole level for it to count. I just finished the current last boss and feel too op now with all the upgrades, gonna crank up the boons now for a challenge. Peace.

I played 90 hours an have 131 roots healed but I do not know what "boons" are. I have a lot of improvements but Yggr is still level 1. So please help: How can "do" boons or what are boons?
