It's an arcys PC port.
I haven't purchased this game yet, and I'm a pretty big fan of KLK. Luckily, I've learned from my experience with buying cross tag on release, and held off on buying this until I saw reviews. As expected, Arcsys once again had issues porting one of their fighting games to steam, as far as I've been able to tell. Can someone let me know when they patch this, or when someone inevitably makes a fix mod or something like with cross tag? I'll be holding off on buying this 'til then.

yup
ffs man, I pretty much couldn't play cross tag at all for the first month after the game came out. Pains me to hear that people paid $90 for this at launch

If you love Kill la Kill, go for it when it's fully patched. That review was made by some dude that wasn't familiar with the source material to the point where he pronounced Satsuki as "SAT-SOOKIE" and, on an unrelated note, Naruto as "NAH-ROO-TOE" He had no idea what he was talking about and was unbelievably harsh. The gameplay is the best I've played of any arena fighter and once it gets patched it'll be worth it if you're a diehard fan. If you're not though, I say wait until the price drops.

There's no problems with the port it's just that there's nothing to the game except an extremely short story mode and extremely basic combat.

There is a lot wrong with the port. It's a 3D game with a resolution lock of 1080p. Some of the worst PC ports still support 2160p resolution and above.

Look, I just wanna know when this ♥♥♥♥ gets patched. The lack of characters is a bit excusable since, let's face it, KLK didn't have THAT many protagonists/antagonists other than the one-time antagonists like the no-late day girl or the boxing club leader. Pretty much everyone is accounted for, even Nui, Fight Club Mako, and the double naked DTR. I honestly can't think of other characters, aside from the earlier versions of the elite 4.

In addition, we knew the combat was gonna be basic from pretty much day 1 of this game bein' announced. there's a literal rock-paper-scissors mechanic in the game ffs. In my experience, "arena fighters" usually aren't very diverse, save for the more "big-name" ones like Tekken and Soulcalibur. Even still, it's an "anime fighter" so the 4-button layout and autocombos aren't exactly uncommon.

Tekken isn't really an arena fighter. Also while this is an Arena Fighter, it sure as hell puts some distance between past ones and really makes something simple yet so complex. When you really get into the core mechanics oft he game it's something special. I'm not sure when it'll be patched, I wish I knew, but the game is definitely more than just a simple button masher.

Fair enough, though from what I've seen, it seemed pretty simple. I haven't played yet, and I would've bought this for the KLK name alone at release...

...if it weren't made by Arcsys. From what I've heard about some of their other PC ports, and what I've experienced firsthand with Cross tag, Arcsys seems to have absurdly glitchy PC ports at release with little to no optimization or support. Then, they rarely fix the stuff in their ports for a good amount of time. As I stated earlier, I could barely play Cross tag for about a month after the release since the game ran consistently at less than 10 FPS. For a fighting game. The worst part is, it wasn't even Arcsys that fixed it, it was some random guy who released a mod fix for the game (mad props to him though, he's doing God's work out here).

I don't have anything against arcsys as a company, I just think they could probably work a bit harder on their PC ports moving forward, and make sure the port doesn't suck.

Take that score down two more points on the PC port because the bugs.

So we're bringing up other anime arena fighters? How about Xenoverse 2? It's the most successful Dragon Ball video game.

I'm not saying that all anime arena fighters are simple/basic. I simply said "most". A good example of my point is One's Justice, the my hero academia fighting game. Furthermore, my issue is not with all other fighting games, just the ones made by arcsys that have had very rough initial PC ports. Despite never having played Xenoverse 2, I'm sure it's a fine game in its own right.

Because those are all doodoo arena fighters. Like this game. Arena fighters just suck in general.

What issues were you having with BBTAG at launch exactly? I agree there are always some bugs on every ArcSys PC game launch, and they can take time to be ironed out since they have a small porting team, but it's usually not game-breaking.

If you're talking about performance issues, they had warned that BBCF and BBTAG would require a beefier setup compared to the previous BlazBlue games. I'm wondering if that's the issue you were talking about because you mentioned the enhancement mod, and AFAIK most people were waiting for the mod to lower the internal rendering resolution and allow the game to run properly on their computers...

While I'm here, I still don't own this game but it looks like even people with good enough computers are having lots of issues, including performance ones. So I wouldn't really say it's a situation similar to BBTAG's, since the latter was actually playable at launch.

Full Screen was broken at launch. And Windowed mode was badly down-scaled, looked like low res crap.

Welp, I don't remember having either of these issues nor reading about them. Might be because it was around the time I almost dropped the Steam forums and didn't subscribe to BBTAG's...
