Is the Resolution fixed?
I bought this when it was first released and refunded it due to it not having support for arbitrary resolutions above 1080p. I was hoping with this new released they actually added support to improve image quality. Guilty Gear and DBFZ look fantastic in 4K. I've seen screenshots of this game when the community mod was working and it looked amazing. But from what I understand it no longer works.

It seems it's not fixed:

I don't expect the FPS to be fixed either.
I give up with this game.

You f*cked it up ArcSys.

internal resolution is still locked at low resolution.

Exactly, it seems it just upscale it. It doesn't render the game at higher resolutions, like the mod does it.

So shouldn't this be easy to fix for the devs or what is the problem? Mby msg them on twitter etc?

Do that, and submit a bug here: https://www.arcsystemworks.jp/steam/en/contact_02.php
The game looks terrible at 1080P, and there's no good reason it shouldn't go up internally when a modification of the game file succeeded in doing it.

Thanks for the heads up, I was thinking of picking it up on the winter sale but this is kind of a deal breaker.

"-IF" only :claugh:. It uses the Afro Game Framework engine.

I think this game was made to be run at 1080 max. When we rose the resolution with the mod, graphical glitches appeared in almost every cinematic (story mode, character intros, victory animations, super moves, instakills, etc.)
Probably they didn't have the resources to fix those glitches in higher resolutions, so they just re-scaled the game at 1080 -even when the game still looks bad at that resolution.

I still don't have the game thanks to the lack of fix in regional pricing, so I can't test it myself (though it may not work well on a 1080p screen anyway) and have to ask instead: how does it glitch out please? Do elements flicker, are shadows and other elements badly computed or not in the right place...?

And yeah, it's very likely that the game was indeed meant to run at 1080p at most, but they might have wanted to do nothing or use another upscaling method rather than a quick and dirty one.

Maybe glitch-free higher resolutions can be achieved through DLL injection (many mods do that to change the viewport's size, including the BlazBlue Improvement Mods), but I know next to nothing about it so I can't help.

I'm playing it right now at 5120x2880 and the only things that glitch out are pre rendered cutscenes. In game cutscenes are fine. And the only other thing I noticed are very minor UI elements like lettering being moved maybe 2 cm down. But it doesnt run off screennor is even noticeable unless you do a screenshot comparison.

yeah there is flicker issues with some graphics like smoke and shadows during certain scenes and some visual issues in ohko finishers whatever those are called...

With the mod installed you will have actual resolutions higher than 1080. Which look a lot better than the resolutions offered by the original exe. But I've also found these glitches with the mod installed:

In Story Mode Cinematics: some cutscenes are either too bright or too dark.
Character Intros: With Ragyo, most of her intro animation is blocked by a white screen.
Instakills: With Ragyo again, a semitransparent grey polygon obscures most of the cinematic.
Supers: With Sanageyama, Nonon and Inumuta, there is an special action background during their super moves. This background is misaligned and you can see part of the actual stage.

Those are the ones I remember for now. There maybe more.

I also have to mention the framerate is poor on anything less than an RTX. The 60 FPS constantly drop, even on 1080. With heavy projectile characters like Ragyo, Nonon and Inumuta the framerate may go down to 20 fps with a GTX 970.

The last version of the game I tested was 1.04.

Hmm... That's interesting. Smoke and shadows flickering is probably also an issue at 1080p, since I remember noticing that in the store page's trailer.
Aside from that, it sounds like many elements are tied to the resolution (or the variables handling it) for some reason? So maybe DLL injection is really the way to go to avoid scaling these values up while still having a higher resolution picture, if it's possible at all.

And yeah, I've been lurking on these forums since day one, I know this port is a mess and that performance is wildly inconsistent (IF the game runs at all, no pun intended).
