You could just open your save files in Notepad.
Time it would take to lock it up is time we could make new content so. Also we never thought encryption that big of a deal, it's not a competitive game, and it allowed some players who have already played the game to death, a way to try out weird things, a pseudo creative mode, or work out speed runs etc..
So no plans on 'fixing' this any time soon.
But also, don't use cheats it's so boring. I have to use cheats all day doing QA, we call them debug tools. Play games for fun ya goose!
I love how you answer this type of question, very cool.
Same. ^_^
But I also love that you answer all questions and look at the Discussions. ^_^
My first experience 'making' games was modding and messing with variables in GTA saves/code, so tbh in the future we hope to make games that let you mod, or mess with them in creative ways as much as possible. :D
That being said, do you plan on adding full mod / workshop support to Cheeky Chooks (custom coops, chickens, items, etc) anytime soon? I would love to see a "Story Mode" modded in myself. Maybe something along the vein of Viva Pinata or something?
If so, but you need ideas, I can "hatch" some for ya. ^^
We would absolutely love to make Cheeky Workshop friendly, and I have looked into it before as it definitely plays into this idea you aren't wrong. Unfortunately it would take a great deal of work and development time to implement correctly and safely. The main issue is that people can use the same access given to mod to create malicious code that can spy on or attack users computers. While there are ways to prevent this sort of thing, it would take us a great deal of time that could be spent improving the base game through fixing bugs or adding content.
For a tiny team like ours we simply cant afford it, but is something we will keep in mind and would love to add if we ever get the opportunity.
