I got the Cardinal Ending but i am curious about the Mutable one because of that final boss.
As for the Cardinal Ending, it was...alright?
It's the standard happy ending, Virgo gets a lot nicer but doesn't get any real consequence for her actions despite what some characters said, it's a fine ending, just not the most interesting as it's generic.
The Mutable Ending was a bit questionable, it's like an explanation/twist, and I might be bad at explaining.
In summary; The ending is an explanation about whats really happening, everything is a memory, Gemini and Capricorn are behind looping this memory so she can create a solution to save everyone. Virgo thinks otherwise and they fight, ending this cycle.
If you wanna read more about it, I have an explanation below otherwise, play the game to get a better understanding.
The twist is, everything is a lie. Virgo and the others are nothing more than memories. A black hole had basically killed everyone off. However, the zodiac's existences is strong enough to stay "alive" due to preserving these memories. Gemini, Capricorn and the other indexers have been together working on preserving their existence, and working on a solution that could save them from their inevitable death.
So everything in this game has already happened because it's a memory, however, Gemini with the help of Capricorn, has looped this single memory over and over again. What they believe justifies their actions are that let thousands of people die over and over again, in order to find a possible solution/reality that allows everyone to live.
So Virgo's Journey has happened over and over. The reason why Gemini hasn't been the final boss with the two other endings is because Virgo's and Gemini's goals were aligned, and she had no reason to kill her.
In this ending, Gemini thinks otherwise and plans to kill off Virgo, because she can just loop up a new one. Gemini as a indexer, is stronger than Virgo, therefore, could easily kill Virgo and her squad. But, before, Virgo faces Gemini, in this reality, Mercury, her father, decides as an indexer, he has had enough of this. He tells Virgo everything that going to go down if she sees Gemini and wants Virgo to kill him to obtain his heart. Virgo is reluctant because how can she trust her father that hasn't been around much.
The simple response is, I'm sacrificing my existence in order for you to know everything, I benefit nothing from allowing you to have my heart.
Virgo has no choice but to kill her father, to obtain his heart, Virgo technically now has an indexer inside her, so she can see through Gemini's lies.
With this heart you see through Gemini's lies and Gemini has no choice but to tell you the truth, which is my poorish explanation above.
Virgo has feels that there's no point in Gemini's goal. A responses with this quote that has a good explanation on her she feels.
" We only have one lifetime to spend. Gemini, you think you're defying the universe, but you're just delaying the inevitable. " " If you revive the galaxy, everything will be undone! A world with no consequence is a world with no meaning!" " They (zodiacs) had everything they wanted at their hands, and an infinite lifespan to spend it.
My favourite Quote from Virgo,
" If we turn back time, we fail those who sacrificed themselves to bring us here. "
" The cycle must be broken, if their actions are to have meaning. We have to honour the weight of our actions. "
Virgo beats Gemini and everyone/realms begin to fade out of existence. One of the saddest endings. However, this is my favourite ending cause everything is justified, it feels realistic to the degree that Virgo would want to end this pointless loop while others want to preserve the inevitable. I hope i explained it well :)
You get the FIXED ending no matter what you do as long as you kill TAURUS. I Did a full Genocide run and killed everyone and this is what I got. The event processing is programmed to lock you onto this route the moment you kill TAURUS
You get the MUTABLE ending as long as you spare TAURUS and kill Denab ( Doesn't really matter if you spare or kill (Cancer) Again the event processing locks you into this regardless what you do thereafter.
You can probably get the Cardinal even if you kill CANCER as long as you spare the first 2. (Guessing based on my genocide run)
It was really anticlimatic to get the bad ending after trying to do everything right tbh and "do it all over again" is just not fun even if I love the game which I do.
Hello, Virgo Versus The Zodiac developer here! There is a option to skip text in game, go to settings > controls > skip text > ON
It's set to use page down on keyboard, RT on Xbox controler and R2 on dualshock. I hope that helps on new playthroughs!
This is exactly what happened to me. I was expecting to get the last fight with Aries but never got it and wondered when it would happen. Never happened and now I know why so thanks. Time for another run for the cardinal ending and maybe star cross if I play this smart haha. :D
Yeah it's kinda weird how she is. In the fixed ending she betrays you, but so does Spica and it's kind of because Virgo is losing it. . Not sure what happens in mutable yet.
And I also had the same issue with Taurus. I def tried to spare her and was confused when I ended up killing her anyway. Glad to find this thread to clear* that up. I better get out of here before I spoil the next endings too much!
Is it just the dialogue choices when you meet her or does something else matter, like other stuff you do before. I tried to be nice, introduced myself and said that I do not want to fight but I killed her in the end.
I collected lots of heresy points and I got the fixed ending.
