It's free on Epic at the moment, if you didn't realise, which is where I got it but I think I've given up on it after the first level.
I´m through Episode 1-8 now, missing only Episode 9 to finish the Story and i am currently at around 18 Hours playtime.
So, you can say each Episode takes about 1-2 hours if you just want to play the story.
That way it is quite fun to play.
I would not have fun doing sidemissions/puzzles/collecting+upgrade stuff in this game. That feels like a chore to do.
But i find the recreation of the films is quite nicely done with lots of humor.
At least for a one time playthrough, maybe with a friend or kids.
Because you can ignore the interface entirely and fool around and enjoy it just fine. You're thinking about it too hard.
>I was a huge fan of the Lego Star Wars from 2009, but something about this game feels very wrong in comparison.
Wow, so after 15 years, the series feels a little different than before? Did you really expect it to be the same?
>My friend said that he remembered the old games where you'd go around levels and build things, but to him this felt like moving through film sets, disassembling the sets for studs, and laxadasically killing enemies.
Your friend is misremembering because smashing sets and rebuilding them and killing easy enemies with no effort has been the core gameplay in the series this entire time.
Makes sense. People change as do tastes. But I feel its the player that is different here...the gameplay is mostly the same. A lot of people blame a game for changing when it was actually their own tastes that changed and they just don't realize it.
