I CAN'T ACCESS MY SAVE FILE HELP
I put about 7 hours into this game, lots of fun. But when I booted it up today, suddenly my save file was inaccessible--the continue button and load game button were gone. I started a new game on a different file and selected load game after that, and I found out that my save file apparently still EXISTS (and gives me a warning if I try to overwrite it), but it doesn't appear on the load screen and is just blank on the new game screen. Is it corrupted or something? I don't want to start the game over again please help.

Maybe try making a copy of the save and rename the copy to be slot 3 or 4, if that doesn't work then you're progress is most likely lost.

I don't even think this game HAS an option to copy save files, or at least not one I could find. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm screwed.

I'm talking about going into appdata folder on your desktop and manually copy the folder.

How do I do that?

OK, I did what you said, but it still didn't work. It created another "blank" save file in file 3.
I guess I'll just have to start over... whatever, I didn't sink too much time into this game already, it's no big deal.
It was a long shot but it's still annoying, maybe try making a occasional backup of the new save file to limit what progress would be lost if you encounter this bug again.

I've just decided to backup my game every time I finish a play session. It takes half an hour each time, but it's better than redoing multiple hours after losing my progress.

That is more than necessary and I'm unsure if that would even help, all you need to back up is "AppData\Roaming\Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment\LEGO Star Wars - The Skywalker Saga\SAVEDGAMES\STEAM\" which is where the save files are located. The game itself could always be repaired by verifying the cache.
