There is nothing else that can explain such a huge performance issue like this when others like myself are enjoying a locked 60fps in Native 4k with all graphics options maxed out.
My machine is 6 years old and while it includes a highly overclocked EVGA 1080ti FTW3 and a 15% overclocked 6700k CPU, there is no reason why an RTX 3080 should not be delivering the same level of performance as my 1080ti is.
Hopefully the forthcoming patch will address this issue.
You might try modifying the EXE file to include the following 2 options under compatibility:
Disable Full Screen Optimization
Run as Administrator
Clicking these two options drastically reduced the random freezes and crashes to desktop I was getting on the first day I installed the game. Since making those two changes I can count the number of random freezes/crashes on one hand 15 days later.
This is a known issue to be sure, but i dont think it has much to do with RTX GPUs. Im using an RTX GPU and have zero issues with this problem. Several others I know using RTX cards also do not have this issue.
From what I've discovered, the frame drops doesn't seem to be hardware related. In some areas, when you cap your frames at 60, it would drop to 40, but if you cap it at something like 144, it would drop to 80 in that same area. It's odd.
The current bug reported here has been reported before. It's not low fps in a bad area like what you're suggesting, another thread had a large amount of people reporting that it seemed the fps was literally locked at 10. They had the power so it wasn't going lower, but it never got higher either.
No doubt about that. The big question is WHY does this not impact everyone? Even players with the exact same CPU/GPU hardware are seeing radically different performance. There must be some variable with the user's other settings/software configurations that is causing this, but good luck ever being able to determine what that is.
