Remote play is not a good substitute in my opinion. Because the screen is mirrored you now get two monitors with splitscreen. Which defeats the point.

Having a fullscreen with a friend can only be achieved online or LAN. I found remote play a little dissapointing and encourages software managers not to implement online coop correctly or not at all.

Furthermore if the two monitors have different resolutions you then get forced splitscreen and black bars. I tried Lego incredibles 2 and it was a dogs breakfast. One screen is 2560x1440 and the other is 3440x1440

online co-op would simply be no different than playing with a really skilled ai. you aren't communicating with each other, or screaming orders at each other, you both are independently solving puzzles.
i don't *want* online multiplayer, this game was meant to be screaming at your spouse, sibling, or child while trying to solve puzzles.

that what i mean by lol. it is 2020 and how come LEGO doesn't know internet. There is internet , and it exist for long time i think around 20+ years for multiplayer game. LAN and Local multiplayer is like 2000 which is 20 years ago,and Lego should use them. Lego also have been making their game almost 20 years and it way long pass the time that they should already have implement the online multiplayer function to their game. People doesn't not always live together and a lot of time we are very far away. That why we have internet and that why most game have multiplayer when there is CO-OP on it. Internet is a very useful feature. Especially allowing us to play together with friends and other people. Imagine multiplayer don't use internet and only LAN exist. Everyone will be forced go to other people house for 20 years to play splitscreen CO-OP and it impossible to do if we want to play with stranger. What is the point for all this trouble? And what if people don't have any friend to play with? does it allow us to play with stranger online? no. This is what Lego game does. it totally opposite of how Steam platform work. They made bunch of games for years and just imagine non of them has online multiplayer function. Lego game is way more fun when we can go on story and adventure with friend. That why they have CO-OP on it, but without internet online it kind of going against it own purpose. just imagine make CO-OP game with out Online in 2020. This is what i mean.
