RAGE
How brutal is the Ultra-Nightmare difficulty???
Is it like "you die after getting shot once" or something?? I'm currently playing this on Hard, but playing very carefully of course, and there's a reason why to re-visit certain areas for those 3 plants for the recipes that restores health.

Plus, i've heard rumors that when playing on the Nightmare Difficulty, when using scoped weapons (Sniper Rifle, Pistol w/Monocular, and possibly the Authority Machine Gun), they tend to have more noticeable spread. Is this also true for the Ultra-Nightmare Difficulty, or can you still hit an enemy with near pin-point accuracy?

Played Nightmare my first playthrough, it didn't feel too hard except in a few places. Co-op Nightmare felt harder than the solo game. Started Ultra Nightmare last night, you die quickly, 2-3 hits perhaps, of course depends on what hits you. Didn't die much yet, but I'm a *lot* more careful than I was in my initial playthrough (especially in the DLC levels, going into the caves with just a pistol and a rifle is quite a challenge).

This is a lot of fun though.

I used the sniper rifle a lot because the ammo is fairly cheap and it was a good way for me to use cover. Any increased spread incorporated into scoped weapons was not noticable.
I never ran into any AI that could one shot kill the player.
Schmetics cost more then double the price compared to normal or hard levels, and that explosive block needed to craft pop rockets was $50.
Racing time trials allow about 10 -12 seconds less to complete. You really have to "Drive like you mean it."
I am not an expert at FPS, but still managed to complete Rage and the Scorchers DLC on Ultra-Nightmare, and I think you could too. Good luck.

man, I was getting my ass kicked on the Scorchers DLC on Normal when I first got it, as there's 2 main areas where I almost died, which was at the very end of the Refinery where you're trapped in that tower and guys on jetpacks start coming in, and the very end of the Scorcher Base during the boss fight with the airship.

You could argue that I came un-prepared, which was true. but at the same time, it was more of a test-run, and wanted to see just how challenging it really is. so with that said, I wanted to save the Scorcher areas after assaulting Capital Prime, where not only i'd have all weapons available, but also upgraded Sentry Bots/Turrets, advanced wingsticks, and the Quad-Damage and Regenerative Infusion recipes just for those 2 areas alone

nice. but knowing me, i'd like to come highly prepared with full gear, since my first playthrough during the Scorchers DLC was more of a test-run, as I done it somewhat unprepared. besides, it's like that old saying "it's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it"

and that's the reason why, once I get to Wellspring for the very first time, I try to compete in all of the Buggy-class races (the Rat-Rod has more armor, so I go with that until I win the Cuprino) to max my vehicle out early, and have some left over from that and during the vehicle combat missions for Sally and Brick to max-out my other vehicles. perfect when playing on Nightmare and Ultra-Nightmare, as you'll get the races out of the way quickly. same thing for the mini-games, as I spend many (and I do mean "many") hours playing the Tombstones game as well as numerous plays of Mutant Bash-TV to stock up cash for ammo and supplies (especially having alot of Sentry Bots on hand for the more intense fights), which is why you never ever ever EVER want to sell any of the Comet Bloom and Night Blossom plants you pick up, because you'll need lots of them for those 3 health-boosting recipes. again, perfect for these 2 difficulty levels alone

TIP: As far as the Tombstones mini-game goes (this trick also works on the Video Poker and Roly-Poly mini-game as well), to win almost everytime, Quick-Save before you even play it, because that way, should you ever lose, just Quick-Load (F9 button for default). For each big win, exit the mini-game, then Quick-Save. This is also an excellent way to unlock the Jackpot achievement if you haven't gotten it already.
