RAGE

What's your favorite weapon / ammo type?
I think that RAGE's weapons are extremely well-balanced, meaning that each has its use even in later parts of the game due to advanced types of ammunition, so it all comes down to your preference and what you consider "fun" - a quality I would gladly see in other FPS games (because I can remember weapons from other titles which were "cool" but too weak to use reasonably anyway so I had to switch to "less cool, but practical" guns).

So what's your favourite gun? Mine happens to be a double-barrelled shotgun loaded with pop rockets. I really enjoy watching those mutants explode in fountains of gibs :D

How about you?

I actually love all the weapons and tools (aside from rocket launcher, assault rifle and sniper rifle, as they're very generic, thugh still feel better than in most other games)

If I had to choose the one, it would probably be either combat shotgun (feel) or Striker crossbow... OR the pistol. I don't know, I like when the gun feels great and has various very different ammo variations.

I like them all as well, that's why I want you to try and pick ONE, because it's not so easy and I was wondering what people would choose if they had to choose a single armament.

Also, now that I think about it, combat shotgun (single barrel) with pop rockets is even cooler than double-barrelled. Same effect, but the weapon design is better :D

If it's a single weapon then for me it is the pistol as with the multiple ammo choice you can deal with most threats.

I do like watching those "mutants explode in fountains of gibs" as well as bandits and authority, but then you don't get to loot them. I really like decapitating a mutant or other that is running right at me with a wingstick. If i had to choose "one" weapon for the entire game, it would be combat shotgun with the option of pop rockets and buckshot, and the wingstick. I think I could do a whole playthrough like that.
I also like all of the weapons myself, but if I had to choose 2 of them, it's either the Double-Barrel Shotgun with Pop Rockets, and the Settlers Pistol loaded with Fat Mammas

I'd say the most fun weapon is the nailgun gun with both nails and rebar. I've re-played the entire game using the nailgun almost exclusively and it's fun as heck. You have to stock up your nails before every mission, but you'll never need to buy anything else ever again.

That said, the pistol with fat mamas and the shotgun with pulse ammo are both great for tearing the heads of armoured enemies. Fat mamas with Authority Augmenter takes out Large Mutants and Krakens in seconds. The crossbow with explosive bolts is perfect for dealing with enemies you can't loot (like Jackals on distant platforms).

Also, try the mutant levels using only crossbow, wingstick, and fists. Only switch to shotgun if things get hairy.

Overall, I'd say pop rockets, rocket launcher, grenades, bomb cars, rail slugs, and BFG ammo are pretty useless. You can't loot the bodies, and they just aren't the best choice when you usually have plenty of cover and plenty of time to focus on headshots. Pop rockets feel really awesome the first time you start using them, though.

actually dude, using the Double-Barrel Shotgun loaded with Pop Rockets stuns Large Mutants and Krakens for several seconds, due to its knock-back effect, allowing you to pump more rounds into them to kill them. And activating the Quad-Damage will pretty much one-shot them to death.

I just wanna do the Behemoth Mutant sequence again with a pistol. I dream of that day. I'll do it when I have forgotten and I am "ready" again...

Definitely Authority Pulse Cannon.

If I had to choose one, it would be the Authority Machine Gun. It's just so badass. And once you learn to control it you can raise your accuracy percentage immensly. Second would be the railgun....seeing as it's an old favourite.

The one I used the most in hand to hand combat most was the shotgun, very effective. I didn't like the exploding ammo cause there is nothing left to loot :(

But in fights with enemies hiding far away it was the sniper, best weapon for the job.

and there's a reason why I save the Pop Rockets for those 2 big mutants as explained above, as their bodies cannot be looted

A matter of preference - I prefer gibs to loot :D

Pistol without the monocle... I believe it's my favorite pistol in any FPS. Just feels good.

After that, Striker Bow with the TNT ammo... that's just good fun for all parties involved.
