Love this game, runs great, but heats my CPU more than other games
Hi, I love Rage, I played on my old PC, and I bough a new PC so I very paranoid and fear with him, because i'm not rich and have fear of lost my PC, so, I run my games with msi afterburner to check the temperatures and other rhings, so, the game runs on 60 fps capped, Its very very nice, but, the CPU goes on 60ºc, while another games runs on 48~55ºc. Its dangerous to play Rage with this temperature? Rage its the only game that reachs on this temperature.

Some games are more CPU-demanding than others
60°c is perfectly fine though, processors can handle much higher temperatures without being damaged and have very long lifespans, so don't worry

PS: you can still google your CPU model's temperatures on idle/under load to have more details, also invest in a quality CPU cooler if you're using the stock one that came with the CPU when you bought it

I check my temps. with SpeedFan, I let it run in the background while playing and my CPU (i5-2500) gets up to 44c while in game.

Yes, 60 seems ok. You could look up the max. temparature for your processor in the specs. Some bioses allow you to monitor the cpu temperature and turn your PC off when it exceeds a configurable temperature (this is not a nice shutdown it would immediately turn off your PC).

So if you are worried, look up the max temperature and see if you can set that in the bios.

Most new hardware actually does this automatic to protect itself. Messing with the Bios without proper knowledge can cause serious problems (or at least problems you gotta pay to get solved if you're not capable yourself). My miserable laptop can easily go to 75-80 degrees without problems although the heat can be felt on the keyboard. Again most hardware has built-in tech to prevent any damage.

If your comp keeps crashing then it's time to open it up and get it cleaned.

TL;DR: Don't worry 60 degrees is nothing to be worried about. First sign of any trouble would be a slowdown (lag) or occasional freeze. Personally I use CPUID HWMonitor to keep an eye temps and voltage levels on my laptop (be aware that some processors aren't fully supported on that. It mistakes my AMD Dual-Core A6-4400M for a single core making it add temps from both cores which gives me a readout of 90-105/110 celsius depending on what I'm doing). This is mostly due to my laptop being a piece of ****.

Don't worry mate! It's totally fine. Clean it in 6-9 months and there should be no problem (unless you smoke a lot. Nicotine gathers on electronics very easily and makes dust stick pretty easy).

Edited to satisfy the grammar nazi inside me.

Actually just discovered a cleaning might be in order. Temps just went to 75 degrees on my cpu. Wouldn't be much of a problem if it wasn't' stationed just underneath the keypad.

My old severely overclocked 486 DX way back ran hot enough the case was almost too hot to touch in spots, and some plastic bits inside actually deformed a bit. I could dig it out of the attic and it would probably still boot. (It was too much of an old friend to send for recycling)
