Giant mutant boss? WTF???
I can not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beat that stupid giant mutant boss. I am clearly hitting it RIGHT on the heart with the rocket when he goes to throw pieces of building at me but it's not doing anything. Is there something I am missing or is this a incredibly poor designed boss?

IIRC: chest, head, chest, head, chest, head... Hitting it only in chest won't kill it.

That's what I am doing. The chest is supposed to stun him for him to come in for another attach and I'm hitting it dead on when it turns blue and sight on the RL shows a lock on or w/e

Mate, that's one of the easiest boss fights I've ever encountered (also the only one in the game, heh).

The rocket launcher has a lock-on on it? Have you tried just using it as a dumb-fire weapon?

rocket to the chest, opens up a sequence that allows you to hit his brain bassicly, which if shot will kill him eventually. good luck

correct, hitting him in chest, then he will come close to you and u can shot him into his "brain", repeat 3-4 times and he is done. (on hard mode) but not that hard :)

Ugh. I don't know why I am struggling with this one, I realize it's not supposed to be this damn hard.

What they are not telling you is to fire the launcher just before he throws rocks at you this way it will hit his chest as his arm goes up hitting the blue area. Also you can hide under the stairs and fire rockets at his chest, then when he comes close to slam his fist wait for the sequence to finish dart out and fire a rocket into his head.

You only need to shoot him 3 times to kill him, chest then head each time and don't use the 'Lock On' sight for the Launcher, that is for shooting vehicles only and will not assist you in any way.

You can hit him one extra time in the head at the very beginning which for some reason seems to help as well, but is not compulsory. It's all about timing and being the right spot to begin with. Another good position is right down on the railing for the chest shot and then move up to your right behind a broken wall to make sure he can't swipe you. (You will know you have hit him accurately because he will search for you using a laser). Once behind the wall you can judge when it is a good time to move slightly to take the head shot. i.e. As soon as he dips his head just move a little to your left and take the brain shot.

Not saying that hiding under the stairs isn't effective, I've just never tried that. The advantage of being up behind the wall is just that you don't have to move a great deal from cover to shoot and if you miss you have plenty of time to get back down to the railing to try again.

I could not agree more. How are you having trouble with this one? lol
Redback Jun 24, 2015 @ 10:32pm
I had a bit of trouble first up until I got the timing right and realised the 'Lock on Feature' on the launcher is useless here. Nothing to be ashamed of I can tell you, it's all about learning what is required to complete the excercise and nothing more.

It wasn't a criticism mate, I just personally flt cheated in this encounter. I was expecting it to last longer that's all. I killed it very quick and was left wanting more.

No problem, I guess we all find some things a bit more tricky at first than others. I know I have found some things immediately and couldn't see the problem others had in doing the same. Sometimes it is only because of how you are feeling at the time or you are tired or whatever. You are certainly on the right track with it would be good to have more of them, I also was wondering what was around the corner and found no more big bosses.
pffffft, I can easily ♥♥♥♥ this dude up to the point, without taking any damage from his attacks. the main part of the strategy, is to obtain the Rocket Launcher from Kvasir's Sewers (which is on a top step right by the exit hatch) and stock up on ammo before entering the Dead City.

Wat.

There's a rocket launcher right there in that room where you fight the supermutant, along with infinite supply of rockets.
