Stuck at Outrigger settlement

I gave a letter to the old lady up the top of the base and now I can't get past Rikter, he's standing in my way. For some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason I can not jump over the railing and I can't jump past him either. I have a screenshot posted if anyone needs to see the area, it's near the start of the game I haven't played much.

I have googled this and only found this post http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/939980-rage/60567972 which was never solved.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Did you try and go back to talk with the old lady again.

I have gotten stuck a couple of times in various parts of the game. The only recommendation: Save early and often! Just reload if it happens. At least your in the begining.

you havent finished with the old lady yet. Go back and finish business with her.

Step 1: Make sure the old lady is really done talking to you. Step 2: Talk to Rikter. He has another mission or wants to congratulate you or something. Talk to him and then he should move out of the way. If not, save (in a new slot) and re-load to see if that helps.

As others have said you probably haven't finished discussion and get the bandage recipe from her? On the other hand this game has bugs so it's necessary to save very often.
I save about once every 5mins or more. Shame there isn't a quick save key.

If you have finished with her, well, you have encountered a RAGE bug of which there are many.
Don't bother trying to jump past him, it won't work. Just have to load up a previous save.
You did save manually, frequently I hope?

The auto save feature is almost useless unless you die soon after one. Frustrating, but it's a game of saving.....or keyboard, mouse smashing frustration!!

Edit: That could be another reason it's called RAGE! No save RAGE!!!

I was going to add a lot here and then realised the age of the original post. Anyway for 'Limygeorge' and 'zebear' (or anyone really), if I can help with this game let me know. Don't give up on it as it is fantastic once you get a handle on what is actually going on with it all.

Thanks Redback, but me personally have had no issues at all after adding some cfg files to get rid of the texture pop in. I've never experienced such an annoying and wierd bug as the OP has.
I really enjoy the game too. I don't care that a lot of people slag it off.

I've played the game all the way through several times and I never encountered any game breaking bugs. I suspect the OP just walked away before the old lady was done talking to him. Typical impatient kid.

By the way, the game does have a quick save key. On a PC, F5 is quick save and F9 is quick load.

No problem Limygeorge and I agree that I don't know why the game has received so many bad comments over the years. I have never had any real problems (that couldn't be overcome) on a number of systems and with fairly basic specs (by today's standards) and on Win Xp as well when the game first came out.

Good to see people such as yourself and 'lionhart' still enjoying the game. I play it mostly on my laptop these days, I updated the one on my profile page in May to the latest 17.3 inch model and it looks great on there and runs smoothly.

I had the same problem. Rikter did move out of the way but somehow there was just barely not enough room to move past. There's definitely an issue there, probably a rare bug though.
I just launched the game with +com_allowconsole 1 , opened the console and used "Noclip" to get past.
