Texture Pop in & Poor FPS AMD

I recently bought RAGE on a sale however when I try to run it I am getting somewhat poor performance on a game that is quite a few years old. The two major problems are:

- Texture Pop-In: For some reason my texture pop-in is really bad as I turn the textures are only just loading in, I don't know whether this is a common issue with the game or a problem with my system.

Low FPS/Stuttering: There is also constant frame drops and stuttering present, with some areas averaging 15FPS.

My Specs are:
AMD OC HD7970
i7 950 3.07GHz Quad Core
8GB RAM

I have looked over some forums however not found a suitable solution and do now know whether to credit this as an issue with my AMD card or the game itself, any potential fix or a link to a forum which may provide help would be appreciated.

yeah this a known issue with Rage running on AMD unfortunately

Thanks for that, the second link was really helpful and seems to have fixed the lag/texture pop-in, hope it will all run smoothly from now on, thanks again for your quick reply and assistance.

also turn off detail textures in graphics settings if you havent already. It doesnt do anything special and just slows the game down. This game requires a bit of tweaking on AMD cards, but after the required tweaks it runs like silk without any noticable texture pop-in. (R9 280x here) heres my config file settings:
