RAGE

RAGE only works in windowed mode
When i switch to fullscreen it crashes.

I have a windows 10 x64 laptop.
Ryzen 3750H
16GB ddr4
2060RTX 6gb

have the oomph to run it but it simply won't work in fullscreen. Only windowed. I am deeply disappointed

If you haven't already tried it - go to the games exe in the folder and right click on it and choose properties - compatibility then tick disable fullscreen optimisations then go down to change high DPI settings and tick both boxes in there on too, that fixed some scaling issues I was having.

Why not play it windowed then? It doesn't crash fullscreen for me but whenever I have the option to play windowed mode I prefer it because I Alt-Tab a lot

if there were only borderless fullscreen mode, id play it. Unfortunately im on a laptop and when it is windowed - bright taskbar and window outline just ruin the atmosphere for me. Not to mention that this is annoying af

I see what you mean, my mistake confusing windowed with borderless modes
Well, does the game work anyway?

Yep, fortunately. Windowed only:steamdeadpan:

Ditto. It will display for me in fullscreen but only in 1080p, which my computer can only handle for about an hour. And I have tried every possible trick u can imagine, from windows scaling, to Gpu display settings, -fullscreen, zoom enhancements, forced gpu display settings, windows hard display settings. Nothing works. My god what a conundrum.

No effect with me. Thanks for trying though as that was not something I had tried.

I just alt+entered after the game loaded to actual gameplay. Couldve done it sooner probably

Make sure you chose the correct exe, I did it on both - 32 and 64 bit.

Tried it 6 times. Strangely all it did was it kept zooming in and out of my Steam app in the background while the game window stayed static. Didn't try it in actual gameplay though. I'll give that a try.

I did as I wasn't sure which one to choose from the get go. I also tried windows scaling options and zoom effects which was hilariously in-effective. All it did was zoom in on all displayed images. Except that damn window stayed static sized the whole time. Didn't even scale. Hilarious.

I also found out I have this issue on Prey(2015), which makes me think that it might be some kind of weird display error with my Gtx 1060. So ultimately it may not even be the games fault. I'm gonna msg Nvidia on the matter.

Dude I searched high and low for advanced settings exactly like those, found nothing. I saved that link. And yes it worked like a champ......for Prey.

As for Rage, well "sigh". I can get it to display in fullscreen in 1280x1024(4:3), 1400x1050(4:3) and 1680x1050(16:9). The weird thing is with most other settings; specifically in regards to "height" being less then 1000, it automatically defaults to a windowed format. And its not even consistent. Whether its by x900, x720, x660, it doesn't care. The window stays the same. Its like something is overwriting my OS scaling settings. I'm going to verify my files just to see if there is somekind of error.

And checking those properties boxes just disabled fullscreen for me outright. It wouldn't even display fullscreen in 1920x1080. Like I said, its a conundrum isn't it. Thanks for the advice and trying man, and that Link :)

I do appreciate it.
