Anybody tried to load this game on a RAM Disk?
I'm guessing the horrendous texture popup was never fixed... right? In theory, loading the whole game (all the 30 gigs of it) on a virtual RAM Disk (you'd have to have more than 32 gigs of RAM for this) should eliminate the issue.

Anyone tried this? Does it help in pratice?

I haven't tried to load the whole game on my RAM but I played the game with a SSD and the texture popup was still there.

Yes, SSD won't help here, as it's still only several times faster than HDD's. RAM is supposed to be 1000's times faster.

Well yeah but for the purpose of loading textures the speed of an SSD should be more than enough, using an HDD reading 50 MB/s and reading 500 MB/s using a SSD the difference is clear, but the texture popup doesn't change in any of my disks.

Anyway the problem is most likely the engine they used, they improved it a lot and it doesn't happens anymore or very smoothed in DOOM

It's a crap engine that Carmack has made, no two ways about it. DOOM doesn't use the "megatexture" tech, to my knowledge (and that is the isue in RAGE).

What "texture popup" are you all referring too?. I have played thru Rage several times recently and haven't had any issues. So what exactly IS this please..

When you turn around and the textures VISIBLY load up (replacing the blurry mess) right in front of your eyes. In normal games this can happen at the start of the map, but in this one it happens all throughout the level.
