Rage 2 Box / Cover Art
Most people probably don't care much about it, but i have to get this of my mind somehow, because it has been bothering me a bit from the start of the announcement. I actually believe that, changing the box / cover art, might improve sales, and the overall appeal of the game to the public / masses. (I still like gameshops, and would love to see RAGE 2 shine on the shelves, yes i know it sounds corny, maybe i'm just getting old.) Not that i know much about promoting a game, not at all actually... But... i know... "My" games... And i know good cover art when i see it, i also for one, still prefer a physical copy over a digital one. (Eventhough 89% of all the games i have on "Pc" are digital.)

I don't want to sound like a b**ch about it, because i don't even have the skills to create any box / cover art at all, but, It's just, something feels really off with the RAGE 2 box art. The colours just don't seem right in my personal opinion, i think the artwork is really off... Imo, the artwork is just to "loud", to "screamy", and there's to much pink in it. It all feels so "ultraviolet". Not that the artwork of the first RAGE was that great, as it was merely "brownish", but, it had more of a "mystical" atmosphere around it, just a bit more of a mysterious appeal to it. It was simple, but it spoke more to your imagination imo.

I was just wondering how the rest of the community thinks about it. Am i the only one ? If so, consider this thread deleted. I do think most people don't even care, but i wonder how the ones that do, think about this subject. What do you guys think about the RAGE 2 box / cover art ?

I totally feel you. I live under a rock and when my firend told me about RAGE 2 I got excited, then saw the box art and all the green maps in one of the preview trailers and then was bummed out. The earlier tralers canged my mind and I am super excited for the game, but the box art is too loud and screamy.

I personally would have preferred to see something nitty-gritty, dirty and in the style of the old game. It doesn't seem psycho enough, or too "ID stuios" crazy, just promo crazy. I mean, the character in the bottom left of the box art kinda looks similar to a PUBG character. It should be bloodier too. I get that craziness can seem all pink and rosey, but I want to cover art to feel dirty and like wasteland.

Even though I used to love physical editions and have build a huge game library throughout my life up until 2001, I've completely come to terms with how unnecessary the material thing has become. Most AAA packages nowadays don't even come with the full game on the disc, and require immediate additional 10gb+ downloads as soon as the disc is in the drive, wich is another thing I took off my PC for it's obsolescence.

I don't like the cover either, but so I also don't like the trailer, wich is very true to the box art and vice versa (wich figures not being very fond of it, since they're directly related).
Apparently we will be seeing neon blue and neon pink and quite other lively colors in people's hair, graffiti, car paint, etc, in contrast to the first game. All promo materials, including in-game footage so far, indicates it is what we will be getting. Although I don't like it, from a marketing standpoint, at least the cover isn't misleading and lying, and seems to faithfully represent elements in the game. I'll be approaching Rage 2 as a whole, with caution.
I personally think they are trying to attract the Borderlands fans.

I remember a news when they rollout funny update for Fallout Shelter, which changing app icon to screaming head of Vault Boy: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ab/98/6d/ab986d566bfcbc820e31618de949798a.jpg
That was looking like a great troll move to mobile game industry, but what they did next?
Right! One week later, they anounce RAGE 2 and present this stupid looking art cover :steammocking:

So yes, you definitely not the only one, but I doubt Bethesda will do anything about it.
Probobly one year after original game release, they anouonce some "Anarchy Edition",
"GOTY" or whatever it will be and only then you might count on redisign of box art.
