RAGE really is a better game than RAGE 2.

i tried to play rage 1 last night to see how its aged...walked up to an enemy point blank gun to his temple shot him in the head....he got back up, i stopped playing

The gameplay kicks ass in Rage 1 to this day.

The overall gameplay in Rage 2 immediately felt cheap and rough and unpolished, the graphics didn't look right. Worst of all, the pacing was AWFUL and the first hour of Rage 2 is such a tremendously awful slog that I could not STAND IT. I probably played and beat Rage on the hardest difficulty 4 times or so, just because it was such a well-designed shooter.

I also thought it was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lame that you can see all the cool neat guns you're going to eventually get from just looking at the menu at the start of Rage 2. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, that pissed me off. Like spoiling all the players for no reason. Half of the entire FUN of a game like this is earning each new badass gun and seeing what it looks like and how it shoots and the *surprise* of such a degree of coolness. And they blow it in the first 5 minutes.

I agree with you and the OP. I was forcing myself to keep playing Rage 2 after just a couple of minutes. After couple of hours i'm done. I don't know if i'm too old for this but i hate how cool, fast, colorfull mess of a game Rage 2 is. It has nothing to do with first Rage which i've loved from the very beginning

Rage 2 is a marmite game, love it after I learned how to play it properly. Cover shooting doesn't cut it if you stick to the generic fail safe method of playing of a FPS game. Its balls to walls or the npc's nade you to death, so shot gun and melee abilities/powers.

I don't have a problem with the gunplay at all. I like it and i know it can not be played in a way Rage 1 could. Just the overall feeling of the game is not my cup of tea.

In terms of basic core mechanics Rage 2 is definitely better, but structurally Rage 2 suffers from generic open world syndrome.

oh yeah Rage 2 turned out to be a rushed, dirty cheap, low effort piece of junk.
avalanche just quickly slapped Just Cause and Mad Max together added the somewhat Doom like gunplay on top of it, some pink color and called it Rage 2.

I am sad that they went this way to revive the Rage franchise, Rage 1 had its flaws but you could see the work and effort that went into it and it´s a good and original game with just an underwhelming ending, it deserved a far better sequel.

Rage 2 is just a sad marketing stunt that is borderline offensive for original Rage fans.

Not here to defend Rage 2 because it's lazy boring game. But what I do want to say is blame BGS for the product they pushed out to sell. Also Avalance didn't slap the name Rage 2 on it BGS did since they own the IP not Avalance.

Very interesting comments guys and good to see. I am a huge fan of the original Rage and am playing it again now. I did in fact buy Rage 2 from another site for half of Steam's price but found out it had to be played through the Bethesda site which I refused to do so I got a refund.

My thoughts atm are to (maybe) buy it here when it eventually comes on sale but we will see. I have a couple of friends playing it and they don't seem all that happy with what they are doing in this new version. They are like me and big fans of the original as well.
